Jackson's Big Boy Bed!

Jackson turns 4 next month.  Last night, he moved to a big boy bed!  We may have waited a little longer than we needed to, but he's our baby...and he never tried to climb out of his crib.

 

I had to take pictures to document Jackson's big day!

We always read to him before we tuck him in, and then he requests a few books to keep with him and read until he falls asleep.  So I put a little storage cube right next to his bed and told him he could put his books back on it when he was finished reading.

Jack was so excited to be in his big boy bed, and having 18 of his stuffed animals with him helped him feel nice and cozy!

Bryan and I picked out a plaid bedspread for Jackson that had lots of red and blue in it--2 of J's favorite colors!  I love that it's classic and all boy!  Jackson picked out his sheets.  I love that they're dinosaurs!

After we kissed him and turned out the lights, Jackson waved goodbye to us!  And then I teared up as we were closing his door.  I can't believe our baby is so big!

Bryan and I talked to J a lot about staying in his bed all night and let him know that we would come get him when he woke up in the morning.  We bribed him with an M&M if he did a great job and stayed in his room all night--this morning, he picked out a red M&M!  He did a super, and we are so proud of our big boy!

Our weekend is already off to a great start!  Jackson did super in his big boy bed, Sarah is at a sleepover, Daddy and Mommy got to sleep in, we all made breakfast together, and Bryan got to break in his new coffee mug!

Bryan's Birthday Brunch!

This morning, we had reservations at one of our favorite restaurants for their all-you-can-eat brunch buffet--Bryan's choice for his birthday meal out!

 

Of course, I had to get a picture of Daddy with his babies!

Notice how Papa Bear has 2 plates!  He knows how to do buffets!

We had such a fun time treating Daddy to one of his favorite restaurants to complete his birthday celebration!

End of the Year Goodies

For Jackson's last day of school yesterday, we got both of his wonderful teachers little gift baskets.  Along with a gift card and goodies from a local jewelry store, I also included these creations that Jackson made!  We have some of these hanging in the game room, and I just adore them, so it was fun to give these to Ms. Dana and Ms. Leah!

I also filled a blue mason jar with m&m's and added this little poem from pinterest.  Everything's better in a mason jar!

 

Ms. Dana and Ms. Leah created a wonderful book filled with pictures of Jackson and creations that he made throughout the year.  I absolutely love it!  I have one from Sarah's first year of preschool that I just adore, so I was thrilled to get one from J's first year too!  Here are some of the pages that I just had to share:

Bryan's Birthday!

Yesterday, Bryan turned 30!  The kids and I tried to make his birthday as special as possible because he's just the best!

 

Before Bryan got out of the shower yesterday morning, I hung up this banner in the kitchen.  I actually didn't even expect him to notice it before he left for work, but he did, and he thanked me for it!

 

I picked up a few balloons for him while I was running errands yesterday and tied them to his chair.

 I had to include a football balloon!

For his birthday dessert, I made our favorite homemade chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter frosting!  It tasted just like a Reese's peanut butter cup--which is Bryan's favorite candy!  Perfection!  I started making the cupcakes yesterday morning a little after 6:00, and the only "boy" cupcake liners I had in the pantry were J's racecar ones, so that's what I used!  I think it made them even cuter!

Bryan's first case started at 6:30 yesterday morning, and he didn't finish his last case until right before 8:00 PM, but the kids and I really wanted to celebrate him, so I let J stay up past his normal bedtime so we could all sing, have cupcakes, and open presents!

So precious!  Sarah moved away so as to avoid being spit all over!

 

Since Bryan was turning 30, I thought it would be super fun to get him 30 presents!  I actually stated getting them back in January!  Bryan works so stinkin' hard for our family, in every sense of the word, so I really wanted to make his birthday extra special!

A few days before his birthday, I took a picture of some of the goodies I got him:

A Reagan book--his favorite president

A Duck Tales DVD--his favorite cartoon from when he was a kid that he's talked about wanting to watch with our kids

The Bourne Legacy--to complete his set of his favorite movie series

Circus Animal Cookies--his favorites

A new travel coffee mug

Salami--he loves all meat

Reese's--his favorite candy that I tucked away after Easter

A bacon shirt--again, he loves meat

 

I put all of his gifts in a box I already had and just decorated the outside.

Bryan has been known to say that all men really want is for women to make them a sandwich and leave them alone.  Charming, right?!  So, when I stumbled upon this shirt, I had to get it for him!!  He laughed so hard when he saw it!

 

Some of his gifts were small and simple, like the cookies or a pack of Aggie pens for him to use at work.  But I also got him a couple of bigger gifts, like this framed print of the Constitution and a picture of "Red, White, and Blue Out" at Kyle Field.  He's talked about wanting both of these before, so he was pretty excited to receive them!

I also got him a few new books--one about football that he mentioned wanting months ago and one by his favorite fictional author, Fitzgerald.

I really had so much fun thinking of all of the presents for Bryan, and the kids and I loved watching him open all 30 of them!

 

After presents, it was not only past Jack's bedtime, but it was time for Sarah to go to bed as well!  So, we tucked both of them in then had our dinner!

One of our birthday traditions is that you get to pick out you favorite home-cooked meal and dessert to eat on your actual birthday, then on another day that week, you get to pick your favorite restaurant.  So, for Bryan's special dinner at home, he wanted honey lime chicken enchiladas.  (I swear, he would eat these 3 times a week if he could!)  And instead of making salsa or guacamole to go with them like I usually do, I thought it would be a fun treat to pick up Chili's queso--one of his favorite things!
