Little Dates

Our family loves dates, and sometimes simple, little dates are the best!

Sarah went to College Station on Wednesday with Bryan's mom to visit Aunt Rachel and Uncle Gus.  That morning before she left, she and I had a little girl time with hot tea, scones,  great conversation, and lots of laughs!

Thursday, while Bryan was on call and Sarah was out of town, I asked J where he wanted to go on our date.  He chose Starbucks and "Old McDonald's"!  So, we got cake pops (his favorite) from Starbucks, then had Happy Meals at McDonald's.  He's never actually been inside a McDonald's, so he was pretty excited!

Last night after we tucked Jack in, Bryan and I had a date!  He grilled steaks, and I made homemade mac and cheese with fontina and bacon and sautéed spinach.  We ate it in our jammies on the couch while watching our shows on the dvr.  It was delightful!

Starbucks and School Supplies

This morning, the kids and I went on a little Starbucks date.

Then, we got school supplies for the annual backpack drive at our church.  The kids loved collecting all of the goodies, and I love that they're learning to serve others.

Family Date

Yesterday, Bryan got home a little early, so we went to our favorite burger place for an early dinner...

...and milkshakes!
While we were there, Jackson asked if we could get ice cream after we ate.  We all laughed, then Daddy asked him what was in front of him.  Jack said "a milkshake--can we get ice cream when we're done?!"  He cracks us up!

We just love family dates!

Pizza Lunch

Yesterday evening, I made some homemade pizza dough, and today after church, we made pizza for lunch!

We love pizza at our house!

And it's even more fun to make pizza together!

Jackson loves getting his hands dirty while cooking...

...Sarah, not as much!

Spreading our homemade sauce.

Topping it with cheese.

When the kids finished topping their pizza, Jack helped Daddy top ours with mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil.

J wanted to try to a little basil on his pizza!

It was a yummy lunch!

Date Day

Yesterday, we thought it would be fun to take the kids on dates!

Sarah asked me a couple of weeks ago if we could go to a tea room that we used to visit a lot when we lived in Ft. Worth.  So I surprised her with this little invitation yesterday morning.  She squealed and gave me the biggest hug.

I just adore her.

We had a delightful time!

How is she getting so big?!

For dessert, we shared a scone!

Daddy drove Jackson to a little town north of us to have a boys lunch at Babe's.  Daddy had fried chicken, and Jack had chicken fried steak!

I love this picture!

Dinner in Paris

I thought it would be fun to do a theme night for dinner a couple of times a month.  Our first theme night was on Friday, and it was French food!  We even listened to French music while we ate.  It was so much fun!  We're already planning our next theme night!

I made French toast...obviously...using brioche bread!

 Homemade crepes.

Homemade whipped cream.

Macaroons on Sarah's Paris plate.

Mini quiches.

French cheeses--J loved the white one!

And finally, French sparkling lemonades.

A Movie and a Helper

Yesterday it rained all day, so we just hung out at the house.  It was wonderful!

Jackson's cool even when he eats breakfast!

The kids and I watched Cars 2 while we snacked on popcorn.

Rainy days are perfect for movies!

Halfway through the Cars movie, J decided to watch the rest of it in his own car!

At least 3 nights this week, J has asked if he could help me make dinner.  Then, he pulls up a chair and gets to work!

He's at such a sweet and wonderful stage, and I really love having him as my little shadow!

A Sweet Day

Today was a sweet, simple day.  And those days are always my favorites!

It started off with our little princess getting ready!

Then, we went to the library--the kids favorite!  Our library has a reading plan for wee ones up to 4 years old.  When you read a book, you fill in your sheet and bring it back to the library for a reward when it's complete.  Since we read numerous books a day, J finished his form in no time!

He got a certificate, a free ice cream at a local restaurant, a toy, and a new book.  He was so excited!

Then, we went to get him a much needed haircut!  He did such a great job sitting in the chair all by himself again!  When we got home, I told him that he looked handsome.  He said, "no, I don't; I wook pretty!"  Sarah and I laughed so hard!  I have a feeling Daddy might not find it as funny!

Then, the kids played together!

I just love how much they love each other!

For dinner, I pulled out these silly straws that we put in their stockings at Christmas!

They loved them!

Sarah said that they were so cool, and that I'm a fun mom!  You can't beat that!
