A Date with Grampy

Yesterday afternoon, Sarah and Grampy went on a date together to see Aunt Hillary perform at the convention center downtown. Sarah had been looking forward to it all week! And she loved the outfit she wore on Tuesday so much that she had to wear it again for their outing, (luckily clothes are washed every day here!).
They had a great time!

Date Night!

While my Dad was here, he kindly offered to watch the kids while we went out on a date! Hot dog!! After we put Jackson to bed, he and Sarah popped in a movie to watch together, while Bryan and I went to La Madeleine for dessert! It was our first date in 6 months, and it was wonderful!!! (We actually went out last month without the wee ones, but it was to a graduation, so not entirely a just the two of us date!!)
My dream hunk and me!

Love My Babies

My Dad and sister have been visiting the past couple of days for a music conference that Hill's attending. When they got here on Tuesday, I had Hillary snap a couple of pictures of me and the kids before we went to dinner. Papa Bear met us there from the hospital--that's why he wasn't in the pictures too!
Love my babies!!

Playing Together

At our house, we believe sharing is caring, so the kiddos have no problem sharing their toys!
Jackson loves pushing his big sissy on his dump truck!

A New Toy!

Sarah's favorite part of the game room is the built-in desk. She spends so much time at it writing stories, drawing pictures, and doing her homework. This weekend, I bought her a battery operated pencil sharpener for her desk, and she was thrilled!!
It's her new favorite toy!

Why Childproof?

A few months ago, Bryan and I spent about an hour on one of his precious and rare Saturdays off to childproof the cabinets in the kitchen. Well, Jackson discovered a couple of weeks ago that he can open the latches!
First, he opens the door until the lock catches itself, then he puts his other little hand inside the door and unlatches the lock.
Success! "Mommy, I opened the cabinet! Do you want me to get anything out for you?"
Luckily, he only opens them when someone is in the kitchen, and the only ones he likes to open don't have anything breakable in them. Just to be on the safe side though, I'm going to move the one toxic thing I keep under the sink somewhere else! What a cute little turkey!

A Day at Our House

At our house, the days can be pretty busy or particularly boring, but either way, I love each one because they're spent with my three favorite people!
*
This is what we did yesterday:
Once I woke up, I started on chores--dishes and laundry, two things that are done daily around here! Then, Jackson woke up, the kids and I had breakfast, got dressed and went outside to play.
Jackson grinned from ear to ear the entire time we were swinging! Sarah had a blast playing too! She and I even did the teeter-tooter and see-saw together!
Then, I went ahead and popped Big J into the tub for a bath, we changed clothes, (even though we were outside at 9, we still got hot!), and went to the library. This is Sarah's favorite place to visit during the summer! Once we came home, Jack had a big cup of milk, then went down for his nap. While he was sleeping, Sarah and I baked cookies. (Luckily, the mixer and the vacuum don't bother Bubs at all while he's napping!) A few minutes after this picture was taken, the mixer started smoking and died! Bryan's mom bought us that mixer when we got married, and I've used it hundreds of times since then! I was so sad! I've already bought a new one! : ) After the homemade oreos were cooled and assembled, Sarah had to try one! She said, "love at first bite" after tasting it!
Then, she started reading one of her library books. Is she not the most adorable little book worm?!
Once Jackson got up and had his lunch, we started play time! He loves riding around in his car and pushing his dump truck!
Jackson also loves playing with all of his toys, banging on his pots and pans, and reading his books!
Then, Daddy came home! Play time stops momentarily and hugs and kisses begin!
Jack has been walking the majority of the time lately. He will still get down and crawl if he wants to get to someone or something really fast, but otherwise, he just walks!
After dinner and tucking the little man into bed, Sarah, Daddy, and I played Pictionary. We had so much fun! Sarah was really good at doing the drawing too--for "bermuda shorts" she drew the Bermuda Triangle and a long pair of shorts!!
Then, Bryan and I tucked Sarah in and had a "date." We snuggled on the couch and watched a Netflix movie together!
A great ending to a great day!

A Little Trip

Yesterday, we made a little trip. Well, actually, it was 87 miles. And it was for Barbecue!! We drove to The Salt Lick for lunch! We love BBQ, and after seeing this place on so many food and travel shows, we had to go!
The open pit! Yum!! We loved all of the food, but we still think Bryan's dad makes the best brisket we've ever had! Their ribs, however, were amazingly perfect! Our table--covered with food!
Jackson and Sarah.
Jack was eyeing the food in this picture! He loved the brisket, beans, and potato salad.
Sarah's favorite was the brisket covered in BBQ sauce.
Jack really wanted to play with the boot!
Yep, this is the third picture in a row where he's not looking at the camera! He's still so cute though!
And before our drive back, Daddy had to throw Jack in the air a few times!

Birthday Gifts

Yesterday, Bryan's sister and her fiance sent Jackson a birthday gift--Legos!
Jackson was so excited to see his new toy after nap time! Thanks, Aunt Rachel and Uncle Gus!

T-Shirts

Earlier this week, I made a couple of t-shirts for Jackson. I just free handed the designs I wanted on fabric, then ironed it onto the shirts and hand-stitched around the border. When it was all said and done, they cost less than $4 each, so I was pretty proud of that!
A football--complete with drool!
Although it's hard to tell from the picture, this one's a dinosaur. He was too busy playing this morning to be bothered with a picture!

Random Pictures from my Phone

I love this sweet little face! He climbed into the chair all by himself! He was so proud!
This morning, instead of our normal jog, Sarah wanted to wear her roller blades instead!
And Jackson was just enjoying it all!

4th of July

We LOVE the 4th of July! And even though it was just the 4 of us, we had a big cookout!
Bryan grilled cheddar brats and corn on the cob!
We made mini-sandwiches, and to quote Fancy Nancy, "Sandwiches do taste better with frilly toothpicks in them!"

And you have to have sweet tea in mason jars!

Sarah made this flag out of fruit and marshmallows! The healthy stuff! Jack loves blueberries, so he ate a lot of these! Patriotic strawberries...still healthy, right?!
Chocolate covered pretzels and the red and blue M&M's I didn't use for Jackson's party!
And the cupcakes we make every 4th...
red, white, and blue!
A couple of months ago, I got Sarah this dress, and it came with one for her doll too! She loved it!
Picnic outside!
Bubs loved the flags!
So cute!
I love this one!
Papa Bear and Sarah Bear
Hope y'all had a great 4th!
