Meet the Teacher

Last night was Jackson's meet the teacher night!  He was really excited to go to church and see his new classroom and his old friends!

He wanted to keep his "band aids" on to go to school.  How could we say no to this face?!

Jackson was so excited to find his new seat!  I have a feeling he's going to have another great year!

Aggie Game

Yesterday was the kick off of college football, also known as Bryan's favorite time of the year!  The Aggie game started at 5:00, and we were so excited!

Daddy and his little Aggies!

As with any Aggie game, we had tons of food!

We sure love our shirtless football fan!

First Day of School!

Today was Sarah's first day of 6th grade!  I don't know how our baby has possibly grown so fast!

She looked adorable this morning, so I took far too many pictures!

I snuck a little note into her binder today--because you're never too old for a little encouragement!

This afternoon, we went out for our annual first day of school treat!  Sarah chose a blizzard from Dairy Queen!  I missed her like crazy today, but I love that she loves school!  And I was so excited to hear all about it!

  • "Lunch was delicious!  So many people sat at our table at lunch!"
  • "World history is awesome!  I'm excited about it!  There was an explosion of stuff!"
  •  "My reading teacher is so nice and hilarious!"
  •  "I'm really excited about band!"
  •  "I'm friends with a new girl at school!"

Family Dinner

Last week, Bryan had a really long and busy week.  So much so, that Friday was the first time the four of us had dinner together all week!

Jackson, my littlest helper, adorably insisted on helping me make dinner--his new favorite thing!

Man, I love him!

He would stir the pasta, then stick the spatula in his mouth to test it, then, he would stick it in my mouth--whether I was ready for it or not!

I adore this picture...somewhat because he still looks small in it!

I love everything about family dinner...being around the table together, saying grace, talking about our days, laughing, singing...all of it.

Friday night, as we all ate dinner together, my Mama Bear heart was so happy!

Ice Cream Sundaes

This morning, I surprised the kids with ice cream sundaes for breakfast!

They loved it!

I thought this would be fun since it's technically the last day of summer before Sarah starts school on Monday!  And besides, ice cream has calcium!

Sarah said I was the "best mom ever" and that when she grows up she hopes "to be as dope a mom as I am!"  The "dope mom" cracked me up, because Bryan and I use that word all the time when we're trying to embarrass her, so she knew I would love it!

Schedule and Locker

Yesterday, we went to Sarah's school to get her schedule, drop off her supplies, and find her new locker!  We still can't believe our baby's going to start the 6th grade in a couple of days!

Sarah got her locker open on the first try, and she was so excited!

She and Bubba tried one more time before we left!

Tea for Two

Last Tuesday night, Bryan was on call, so I thought it would be fun to have a tea party with Sarah for dinner!  We used to do tea parties while Jackson was napping, but since he doesn't nap now that he's a "big boy!" we moved this tea to dinner time!

Sarah was so surprised and excited to see this when I called her down for dinner!

I made cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches...

and Pioneer Woman's vanilla bean scones--which were incredible!

While Sarah and I were eating our girly meal, Jackson had a corn dog and a scone!  Ha!

Dr. Jackson

A few years ago, my Dad got Sarah a pair of Aggie scrubs.  They are awesome!  On Friday, Jackson wore them for the first time, and he loved them just as much as Sarah used to!

Obviously, he had to take care of some very important patients!

Oh no!  Aggie (his dog) is sick!

Poor Aggie had to get a shot!

So stinkin' cute!

I love this one because it makes him look so little--something that he is not!

When Dr. Daddy got home, the two doctors took a picture together!

For comparison purposes:  Here is Sarah in the Aggie scrubs--four and a half years ago!  I can't believe it!

And here is Jackson!

I Love My Daddy Because...

When Sarah was little, I bought this book, and it instantly became a family favorite.  Because we've read it countless times over the years, all four of us have it memorized!

For the past few years, I thought it would be so fun to make a personalized version of this book, so a few weeks ago (when I received a 50% off coupon from one of my favorite photo sites!), I finally did!

I knew which pictures I wanted to use for each page, and I just loved putting it together!

A couple of weeks ago, we gave it to Daddy!

He thought it was so special--which is exactly what I was going for!

We've already read this version several times, and each time we laugh and talk about every picture and memory!
