Friday Night Lights

We went to a high school football game Friday night!  The last time Bryan and I went to a high school football game, he was my boyfriend, and we were in the band.  On Friday, we took our son, to cheer for our daughter--who's in the band--and now, he's my forever boyfriend.

We met my Dad there, and he let Jackson borrow his binoculars!

 Jackson loved using them!

Watching our Sarah Bear march in!

The boys were too cute cheering for Argyle together!  Bryan said Jackson even sang the National Anthem!  I can't even!

We loved watching Sarah and the rest of the band!

They were great!

 She's right above the arrow.

Broken Arm

Yesterday morning, Jackson woke up and his arm was even more swollen than it had been the night before.  So, after Daddy looked at it, we decided that it would be best to take him to get it x-rayed.  Since it was Tuesday, Sarah's only morning without before school band rehearsal, it was our date day.  Jackson came along.  After our date, we dropped Sissy off at school, then headed to a local clinic to have Jackson's arm looked at.  They took him to get x-rays, then quickly sent those over to a radiologist to have them examined.  A few minutes later, they told us that his arm was fractured at the elbow and the wrist, and they wrapped it up and instructed us to go to an orthopedic surgeon.  I called Bryan once we were in the car, and he gave me a list of recommendations.  I made an appointment for that afternoon.  After going home for a bit for Jackson to relax and have lunch, we went to the next doctor's office.  J had to get more x-rays, and while we were waiting for the orthopedic surgeon to come see us, Jackson was sitting in my lap, and I was singing him our song--the one I made up and would sing to him in the wee hours of the night when I was nursing him--and he smiled, and said, "Thanks, Mom.  I'm having a good time with you."  It was just the sweetest.  It had been a really long day, but he had been such a trooper through all of it, and I was really proud of him!  The doctor  discovered that it was broken in a few places, but thankfully, he didn't need any surgery.  Then, before the doctor could even complete the question, Jackson yelled that he wanted a green cast!  He was so tough while they were putting it on, and I was so proud of him!

One of my parenting rules is whenever you get a shot, you get a treat afterwards.  So, I figured, whenever you have to get x-rays, see an orthopedic surgeon, and get a cast, you can pick out all the treats afterwards!

This morning before school, Jackson was so excited to have us all sign it!  And when I picked him up this afternoon, he had signatures from so many of his friends on it!

Monkey Bars, A Swollen Arm, and A Card

Last week, Jackson said that he wished he would get mail.  So, on Friday, I mailed him a little card. Today, the nurse called, and told us that he fell off the monkey bars at recess and hurt his arm.  She said that it didn't seem broken, but he was pretty upset, and when she put J on the phone, and he was crying, I told him we were on our way.  When we got home and Dr. Daddy inspected it, (who just happened to have today off), he determined that it wasn't broken, and we gave him some ibuprofen. Jackson's arm started feeling better, but this evening as bedtime drew closer and the medicine started wearing off, it started hurting pretty badly again.  We even took him out for "feel better" ice cream, and he hardly ate any of it.  Totally not like him.  After we gave him more medicine, and he took a shower, and we tucked him in bed with a bag of ice for his swollen arm, I brought up a little envelope.  He saw his name and address on the front, and his eyes lit up!  He asked who it was from. I told him I didn't know.  I opened the envelope, and he read the front of the card out loud.  Then, I opened the card, and he immediately saw that it was signed from me, and he said, "I knew it was from you!"  Our eyes both welled up as he read the inside where I included lyrics from our song and let him know that I love him so.  He had a rough day, but I think this little card arrived exactly when it was supposed to and helped him just a bit.
*He fell off the monkey bars because he was hanging on them upside down to impress the "grills."
Now, I'm off to pray for his arm 20 times...per his request.

Sweetness

"Don't forget, in my heart, you're the first one I love. Well...after three people...Jesus, God, and Santa."
I never want to forget the sweet ways he tells me he loves me.  I also never want to forget how I'm always after Santa.  Jesus and God, I get.  But Santa?!

16 Years

16 years ago today, my best friend asked me to be his girlfriend.

14 and a half years of marriage and 2 kids later, and I still think he's the bee's knees.

For our lunch date, we went to Schlotzsky's, where we had our first date...16 years ago.

First Aggie Game

Bryan's been counting down since college football ended.  The first Aggie game was Sunday, and he was so excited!  And the kids were so excited about all the food!  And the Aggies looked so great...during the first half of the game!

But all the football shaped food couldn't help how badly they played the latter half of the game.  Fix it, Jesus.

Family Pictures

So, almost a year ago, we took our annual family pictures!  I completely forgot to post them!

This one's my favorite!

I love Jackson laughing in so many of the pictures--because that's so real life!

I love this one so stinkin' much!

This truly is our happily ever after!

I am so grateful for this family of mine.
