After 3 years of undergrad, 4 years of medical school, and with 205 days left of residency, Bryan received his signed contract back from an anesthesia group today!! I am so proud of my husband, and we are so excited for this next chapter in our life!
Toward the end of summer, Bryan sent off his curriculum vitae to an anesthesia group in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. At the beginning of September, a faculty member told him that one of the doctors in that group contacted him to talk about Bryan. When Bryan told me, he was discouraged that the group had not contacted him directly yet. On Sunday, September 16th--the next afternoon--they called to set-up an interview!! We were elated! There was screaming and jumping up and down in the living room, and it wasn't by our two children! On Monday, October 8th, Bryan had his interview. He was so nervous, but really excited! (I wasn't nervous; I knew he would do great!) A few days later, Bryan wrote one of the doctors to thank him for the interview. He wrote Bryan back letting him know that everyone loved him and to "stay tuned." A week and a half later, on October 20th, Bryan and I were sitting on the couch watching college football, (his favorite pasttime!), and he asked me if I thought he should call the doctor. I could tell he was worried about not hearing anything yet, but I told him to give it a little more time. Later that afternoon, he received a call offering him the job!! Again, there was a lot of screaming and jumping!!
*When I was asking Bryan for a couple of the specific dates, he was able to recall the two phone calls--for the interview and the actual job--by football. He said that they called to schedule an interview when the Cowboys played the Seahawks, and they offered him the job when the Aggies played LSU. Bryan and his football...sheesh!
When Bryan was at A&M and in med school, I used to make little encouragement signs before exams, so I thought it would be fun to do that before his interview. (We unfortunately were out of red construction paper at the time!)
I always pack Bryan's luggage, so this was the perfect opportunity to also sneak in little notes!
After the interview, Bryan made the 5 hour drive home. I couldn't wait to hug him, kiss him, and hear all about it! I made one of his favorite meals to celebrate--homemade salsa, honey lime chicken enchiladas, homemade peach cobbler, and sweet tea!
I really wanted to go out to celebrate Bryan's job, so a few weeks ago we did! Bryan chose one of our favorite Mexican restaurants, and we had a great time!

I am so proud of him!! It was so fun to go out and celebrate him!

I am so proud of my amazing husband! He has worked so hard to get to this point, and it's wonderful to see all of the 100+ hour residency work weeks and nights of no sleeping pay off.
We are really looking forward to being back in the DFW area--it's where we grew up and where our family is. We're so excited to start this new journey...in 205 days!
A few months ago, Bryan took the Comlex 3, a standardized test for his DO Medical Licensing. Due to the fact that he works 80+ hours each week, he only put in about 5 actual hours of studying for this exam. Other than that, he just relied on all that he learned in medical school and thus far in residency. In 5 of the categories, he literally scored off the charts, (see where there's an asterisk on the right side--off the charts!)! Because he did so well, his residency program put additional money into his book fund!

Because Bryan's so awesome, he was one of three people in his residency class to receive an award for his "outstanding dedication to medical student education!" Each of the students that the residents teach for a month voted for their favorite resident, and Bryan was one of them! As always, I am so proud of him!!
