Snow Day!

Today, it snowed...a lot! 

 

Jackson and I caught some snowflakes this morning!

Then, as we were about to head to the grocery store, we got a call from Sissy that school was closing early.  So, we went to pick her up, got some hot chocolate, and did some grocery shopping!

After we all rested for a bit, we made some snow ice cream--I'd left a bowl on the table in the back yard this morning!  It was actually a little too runny to be ice cream, so Sarah suggested we just make them into milkshakes!  Perfect idea!  The kids wanted to add chocolate syrup and sprinkles, of course!

Then, we went out again, but this time, to make snow angels!  Jackson and I both tried to coerce Sarah to come too, but she didn't want to get "too cold!"

Jackson said, "I'm going to make a snow Batman!"

We both forgot to get his gloves, so he stopped making his snow Batman, and we ran back inside to get them!

Once his hands were warm, he got back down to make a snow Superman!  He cracks me up!

I love his huge smile!

 

It just doesn't get any better!

He was so proud of himself!

He got down in the snow one more time, and then reached his sweet little hand out for me to help him up!

I still can't get over how many inches of snow we got!  It's Texas!

Although I really wish Sarah Bear would have joined us, I had so much fun watching Jackson have fun!

Snow Day

For the past two days, school has been cancelled due to the weather.  Today, there was just supposed to be snow, so Sarah's school was scheduled to start two hours late.  So, after breakfast, the kids and I bundled up to go enjoy the snow for a bit!

 

While Sarah and I still getting our boots on, Jackson was already in the backyard driving his truck!

We rarely get real snow in Texas, so it was so fun to watch it fall!

Before we went inside to get ready for school, I wanted to get a picture of the kiddos together...this was Jackson's initial reaction!  Ha!

Finally, a sweet smile from my sweet babies!

A Sweet Day

Yesterday was one of the sweetest days.  Bryan was post-call, and school and church were closed due to the weather.  So, after we all slept in, Bryan helped me make a big breakfast--eggs, bacon, and homemade cinnamon rolls.

 

While he was cracking the eggs, Jackson hopped up on his car to watch.

Besides actually cooking, this is J's favorite thing to do in the kitchen--and since Bryan was the one working when Jackson got on his car, I was able to take a picture!  After everything was cooked, Jack ran upstairs to wake up Sissy, and we all had a wonderful breakfast together--something that never happens on a typical Tuesday morning.

 

In the afternoon, Sarah read and worked on homework.  Jackson and I played Zingo, read books, and put together Batman Legos.  Then, Daddy and Jack put on Hulk hands and fought each other!

The boys had so much fun playing together!

 

At dinner, Jackson moved his chair to my side of the table because he wanted to sit right next to me.  Then, just as we do every night, we all held hands and Jack said grace.  We told stories and Sarah laughed so hard so many times that I thought she was going to wet her pants!!  It was the best!  We gave Jackson a bath, read him a story, and tucked him in.  Bryan's Tuesday night Bible study was cancelled due to the weather, so he and I curled up on the couch and watched two of our favorite shows--Fixer Upper and Parks and Rec.  Then, Sarah came downstairs for a glass of water and told me that Jackson had fallen asleep in his doorway--she knew I would want a picture before putting him back in bed!

I guess all the playing and reading he did after we tucked him in (notice his bedroom floor!) tuckered him out so much that he just fell asleep here!

I was so grateful for a day at home with my sweet little family.  It was truly good for my soul!

National Cherry Pie Day

On Sunday before we left for church, I made chicken and dumplings and started the crockpot.  After church, I made a cherry pie especially for Bryan.  And then, I discovered it was national cherry pie day!  I love happy coincidences! 

Sarah's Birthday!

Yesterday for Sarah's birthday, we began with one of our favorite traditions--birthday cake pancakes with homemade frosting!

Then, last night, she requested baked ziti, ceasar salad, and homemade focaccia bread for her birthday dinner.

And for dessert, she wanted homemade brownies topped with my chocolate frosting!  An excellent choice!

Last weekend, I took Jackson to Guitarget to pick out birthday gifts for Sarah...and this is what he chose!

Every 12 year old girl wants masking tape for their birthday!

We got Sarah a watercolor art set--she's a great artist!

And cash...which we think she liked!!

This morning, we went to the restaurant that she picked out and invited our family.  It was so fun to see everyone, and Sarah loved opening up even more gifts!

 

 

We are so blessed that Sarah is our daughter!  We love her more than words can say!
