First Day of School

Our sweet babies both started school this morning.  And it was more than my Mama heart could take!  Thankfully, Bryan took the day off, so we were able to take both kiddos to school together...and he was there to console me when I inevitably cried!

Today was Sarah's first day of 7th grade!

We are just so proud of her, and we can't wait to watch her shine this year!

Today was Jackson's first day of kindergarten!

He was so excited to start school this morning!

We know he's going to do great things!

All last week, I would tell him, "I'm going to miss you when you're at school!"  And he would say, "Don't worry, I'll be back after I read books!  I gonna fink about you!"  So stinkin' cute!
Last night, he begged me to let him pack his Iron Man and Captain America in his backpack!

I've been praying for both of them like crazy over the past several days as the start of school got closer, but I know they're going to do great!  And I know that God's going to continue guiding and protecting them.

Goodness, I could just eat them up!  I packed both of their lunches this morning, and included little notes and homemade chocolate chip cookies.

Our 7th grader!

Our kindergartener.

My heart and my prayers went with these two this morning.

Daddy walking Jackson to his first day of kindergarten.
The picture of Daddy and Sarah is one of my all time favorite pictures, and I just love that I now have one of him with Jackson too.  He's such an amazing Papa Bear!

I couldn't wait to pick up Jackson and hear all about his day! As soon as he saw our car, he smiled and yelled, "Mommy!" It made my day! Once Daddy buckled him up, we asked him all about his day! This is what he said:
I was paintin' with hands!
I have 25 new friends and only one old friend.
We went to one playground! It had buses and swings!
One of my grills (girls) in class got sand in my eye and my mouth too.
I cowored (colored) a raccoon!
I missed you!
When we picked Sarah up, she asked, "How was your day, Jackson?" He replied, "I already told my mom, and I don't want to repeat it."

I was so excited to see Sarah this afternoon! Once she got in the car, she told us all about her great day! She said:
I liked all of my teachers.
I really love my English teacher.
My math teacher is cool, too.
My science teacher is very loud. He's a football coach also. He had us make a list of what we liked and disliked. The first thing on my dislike list was geology.
My Texas history teacher kinda reminded me of you, Dad. He was really no-nonsense, but at the same time, super funny!
Band was really awesome!
One of my friends has the same exact schedule as me.
I liked my lunch, and the note. I also liked the Bible verses in my binder. Thanks, Mom.
Goodness, I love her! I'm so grateful that she had such a great day!
Then, we went for our traditional first day of school treats!  We also shared lots of big hugs!

Back to School Breakfast

Yesterday after church, Bryan and I made a Back to School Breakfast for the kiddos!  We made French toast with lots of toppings and bacon!

It was fun putting this together, and the kids loved it!

I still can't believe our babies are so big!

Sarah and Jackson

Yesterday before we left for J's Meet the Teacher, Sarah came downstairs and said that she made Jackson promise that he wouldn't get any older or go to kindergarten!  It melted my heart!

I love these two and their sweet relationship.  I pray that they're always the best of friends!

Cooking with Jackson

A few weeks ago, Jackson came up with an idea for a strawberry-pretzel cake, and he's been talking about it ever since!  So, this morning, we made it!

You know it's going to be a great day when you start it by making a cake in your jammies!  I love how his tongue is sticking out!

Of course, he had to lick the beaters!

This afternoon, once it was cooled, Jackson frosted it!  Then, he put each of the pretzels on!

He was so proud of his creation!

I loved spending time baking with him today!

Meet the Teacher

Yesterday evening, Bryan and I took Jackson to Meet the Teacher Night at his new school.

This picture kills me!

He was so excited to see his new school and his new classroom!  He's literally been counting down the days until school starts!

His teacher is Mrs. Knotts, and I already adore her!  Jackson shook her hand, and then she was so sweet to let me take a picture of the two of them!

I still can't believe our baby is going to elementary school!  He looks far too little to be walking down these big hallways!

Even though he's starting kindergarten, I hope he's never too big to hold my hand!

I just love him so!

Middle School

Yesterday, Sarah and I went to the middle school to pick up her schedule!  I still can't get over the fact that our baby is going to middle school!  We signed up for student council and found each of her classes and the library--her favorite!  She told me today that she's going to miss spending time with me once school starts, and it melted my heart!  Luckily, we can spend each evening together!
Also, this is the only picture I could take--and I had to sneak this one in!  Ha!

Football with Daddy

Wednesday afternoon, Jackson asked Daddy if he wanted to play football.  Daddy always wants to play football!  So, Jack ran to get his helmet and a ball!

As soon as J was old enough to stand, Daddy's been throwing his passes!

I love the throw through the helmet!

I always love watching them play football!
