Happy Halloween!

I made a couple of crafts this year--with special help from the little ones! The kiddos dressed up as a tiger and a bumblebee!

On Saturday, we took the kids to a local church's Trunk or Treat.

Bryan is on call tonight, and I didn't want to take the kids out by myself, and I really didn't want Bryan to miss seeing them in their costumes. It turns out it was even better that we went early, because Sarah stayed home from school with a bad cold today.

This is one of Jack's favorite little windows to look out.

Soccer!

Yesterday, we went to Sarah's soccer game. Unfortunately, The Highlights lost, but they played a great game!

Report Card

Sarah received her first report card of the year on Friday, and she did a wonderful job! She got a 99 in math, and a 100 in reading, science, and social studies!

As always, we are so proud of her!

Airplane!

Tuesday morning, we loaded up the rental car and left for the airport to come home! We had a great time in Tennessee, but we were also ready to get home.

Bryan wore his current favorite shirt to the airport and was worried what security would think. Well, 3 TSA agents complimented him on it, and then at least 7 other various people at the airport! Haha! Big J fell asleep 2 minutes--literally!!--before the plane landed. And he did not wake up when they were braking or anything! Once it was our turn to get our stuff and leave the plane, we woke him up! Crazy, huh?!

Franklin

After the zoo, we drove outside of Nashville to the town of Franklin. It is hands down the cutest place we've ever seen! Everything was so quaint and charming and adorable!

After walking down Main Street for a bit, we stopped for some frozen yogurt! This was one of the stained glass windows in the bathroom of the yogurt shop, and I loved it so much that I had to take a picture!

During the Civil War, the Battle of Franklin was fought here.

Once we were back in Nashville, we stopped at a restaurant called Smorgasbord. We were the youngest patrons there by at least 40 years, but since it was a homemade Southern food buffet, we didn't care! This is my first plate. Keep in mind though, that I was sharing with Bubs! He also helped me eat banana pudding, peach cobbler, and strawberry cake for dessert! It was so good!!

The Zoo!

On Monday, we took the kids to the Nashville Zoo. We all had a wonderful time!

We spent $8.00 to ride the carousel, but we all had a lot of fun, so I think it was worth it!

This was Jack's first ride, and he really liked it!

The first time his sissy rode a carousel, she screamed and cried the whole time!

We really liked this old barn where they kept some farm animals.

Jackson loved walking on the porch of this old log cabin. His plaid shirt was perfect for it too!!

A Date in Lexington!

On Sunday, Bryan and I went to Lexington, Kentucky for the day! Bryan interviewed there before residency and fell in love with it, so he really wanted to show me the city. Bryan's parents were so sweet and kept the kiddos beginning on Saturday night so we could head out early Sunday morning. It was so wonderful to have the whole day to ourselves, but we really missed Sarah and Jackson! It was the longest I'd ever been away from Big J!

Our first stop was the Kentucky Horse Park. This lovely pond greeted us on the way in.

Then, there was this huge statue of Secretariat.

Man O' War is actually buried here.

Sarah really wanted us to bring her an actual horse, and we thought this miniature one would fit perfectly in the rental SUV!

One of the many things we got to see was a riding competition.

In case you're wondering, I can totally do this!

Fall is our favorite season, and here in south Texas, we often don't get to see it. So, we loved being surrounded by the gorgeous tree colors while in Tennessee and Kentucky!

We had to take a picture of ourselves in front of one of Kentucky's lovely fences!

We had never seen a horse that looked like a dalmatian!

Bryan wanted a picture of this charming old truck, (even though I have at least 20 of the truck from the wedding!). He wants one like this when he grows up!

After walking around downtown Lexington for awhile, we stopped for some lunch.

I had a Fried Green Tomato Sandwich.

For dessert, we shared Bread Pudding!

We walked around Lexington again after lunch. On our stroll, we came upon this home where Mary Todd Lincoln, Abraham's wife, once lived.

We picked up these truffles as a thank you for Bryan's parents. We really appreciate them!!

We also brought back stuffed horses for the wee ones.

Jack loved his! Sarah's is pink and purple. She named her Lexi!

Before heading back to Nashville, we stopped in Rupp Arena. As soon as we walked in, I spotted a photo booth, and I was thrilled! I've always wanted to take pictures in one with Bryan! It's taken over 10 years, but we finally did it! I can't wait to frame it!!!

Bryan and I had such a wonderful date, and we are so grateful to Bryan's parents for keeping the wee ones and allowing us to do this! They took Sarah and Jack to a science museum and had a ball! Thanks again, Debbie and David!!
