Yesterday, our baby turned 10! So, as we do with all birthdays around here, we celebrated all day!
We started with breakfast in bed--perfect for any princess!
I got up early and made her birthday cake pancakes and bacon. To make the meal a little healthier, I served her cantaloupe and orange juice too! Before, during, and after eating her breakfast, Sarah said that this was already the best birthday yet! That definitely made getting up earlier than normal to mix batter for pancakes even more worth it!
I gift wrapped all of the items in her lunch. She said that she couldn't wait to open them at lunch time!
While Sarah was at school, Jackson made her a special birthday card complete with butterfly stickers. I told him this was the only time he could play with girly stickers!
Sarah picked crackpot spaghetti, homemade bread, and caesar salad for her special birthday dinner.
After I took Sissy's picture, Jackson said, "Pic!" and this is what I got! There's never a dull moment with our little ham!
Like last year, Sarah requested homemade carrot cake. She's so much like her Daddy--carrot cake is their favorite! After topping the cake with homemade cream cheese frosting, I covered the whole thing in sprinkles!
After Papa Bear lit the candle, I had the camera ready to go for her blowing it out, but while we were waiting, she closed her eyes to make a wish. I love that I was ready, so I was able to capture this cuteness!
J couldn't wait to give Sarah her birthday card!
We got Sarah a Nook. She was so excited!! Jackson was excited as well--but that's because he's 2! Sarah is such a bookworm! She usually reads 4-5 books at a time, and she loves reading her favorites over and over again. We have a feeling her Nook is going to get a lot of use! When the Nooks and Kindles first came out, Sarah didn't understand why people would want to read on those instead of reading actual books. But a little over a month ago, she started talking about how she really wanted one. One day after we left Barnes and Noble, she said, "Can you believe I used to be mortally against Nooks, and now, I want one so badly?!" I laughed and corrected her--morally, not mortally! She is too much!
We can't believe she's 10!
These purple tulips--her favorite color and flower were also a little gift from us.
Getting read to go to Sarah's special birthday lunch!
Not long after we moved to San Antonio, Sarah wanted to eat at the restaurant in the Tower of Americas. As it got closer to her birthday, we asked her if she wanted to eat there for her birthday meal instead of having a birthday party, (it's a bit pricey!), and she loved that idea! Bryan got to go in late this afternoon for a call shift, so it was the perfect day to go for lunch!
Love!
Sarah ordered the lobster grilled cheese. But after eating half of it, she confessed that she didn't like lobster. She told us that she assumed she would like it because she loves shrimp, crab, and calamari! Ha! So I gave her the other half of my chicken blt, and Bryan and I split the rest of her too fancy sandwich!
Jackson had chicken fingers and fries!
Our sweet waitress took our picture.
This one is a little dark, but I love the view!
