John 15:12

One of my favorite things that hangs on our walls is this Verse of the Week sign that I got after Christmas with a gift card from my dad.  It's in our kitchen where we all see it several times each day.  The kids love memorizing the verses, and we love watching them learn God's Word!

 

Yesterday, Jackson stood in front of the sign and said, "I wove you all.  John 15:12"  I couldn't believe how adorable it was!  Although he didn't recite it exactly as we've taught him, I think he completely nailed it!  Because Jesus does love us all!  One of my biggest joys as a Mommy is watching our children know and love Jesus, and this precious moment made my heart so happy!  I am so proud of sweet Jackson!

Pink Eye and Biscuits

Since Monday when Jackson woke up with pink eye, he's been in Daddy and Mommy's bed taking it easy.  Yesterday, he hollered at me from our bedroom that he wanted biscuits.  So, I went into the kitchen to start making them.  (When my babies are sick--and also most of the time when they're not!--they get whatever they want.)  J then ran into the kitchen insisting that he help me make the biscuits. 

 

I tried to talk him out of it, but he really loves cooking!

I love that even though he's not feeling his best, he still has a smile on his face most of the time!

The biscuits only take a few minutes in the oven, so J stood there and watched them!

Jackson had one biscuit with butter and strawberry jam and the other one with just butter while declaring "I wike butter!"

He said the biscuits made him feel better!

First Band Concert

Sarah had her first band concert on Tuesday night, and she was really excited about it...and a little nervous!  The initial plan was for all of us to go and support Sissy, but with Jackson being really sick, we decided that it would be best if just Daddy went.  Since I couldn't go, I was able to get Sarah to let me take a picture before she left.  When they got home, Sarah told me all about it, and I'm already looking forward to the next one!

Pink Eye and Ice Cream

Sunday night, poor Jackson was up a lot crying because he didn't feel well.  Then, yesterday, you could tell he was really sick.  He stayed curled up in our bed all day watching cartoons and resting.  Around noon, I noticed that his eye looked really irritated, and I was worried that it was pink eye.  When Dr. Daddy got home, I asked him to look at it, and he confirmed that it was pink eye.  We gave Jack some medicine after dinner and put him to bed early.  He slept like a rock!  Today, I kept him home from school.

 

When he finally felt like eating late this morning, I asked if he wanted an ice cream sundae.  He shouted "Yes!" and told me everything that he wanted on it!

I've been praying like crazy that his eyes clear up soon and he feels better, but until then, I think this big bowl of ice cream helped!

Sweet Boy

Today, Jackson told me two things that I never want to forget.  "Mommy, God gave you to us!"  And "Mommy, I always wove you!"  The little boy sure knows how to melt my heart!

Picture Day

Today is picture day at Jackson's school.  He looked so dapper that I had to snap a few pictures before we left!

 

I think he should wear a bow tie every day!

Frosting and Sprinkles!

Saturday afternoon, I thought it would be fun to let the kids decorate cupcakes!

 

So, I baked some cupcakes and put half in Thomas the Train liners for Jackson and the other half in purple polka dot liners for Sarah!

 

To make it even more fun, I picked frosting in their favorite colors at the store a couple of weeks ago.  All of the sprinkles we already had in the pantry...we love sprinkles!

 Sarah frosted her cupcakes nice and neatly.

Sarah put her knife into the frosting and then on her cupcake.

When Sarah finished frosting all of her cupcakes, she licked her knife!

They both loved topping this cupcakes with sprinkles!

I always love being in the kitchen with these cuties...

These are just some of the sprinkles that were all over the counter, the floor, and the chair that Jackson stood in!  I think it took me longer to clean up afterwards than the baking and decorating combined!

Saturday Sports

This fall we've been pretty busy with the kiddos playing sports!  We love watching and cheering for them at their games each Saturday morning...but we're also looking forward to sleeping in again come November!  Bryan was on call this past Saturday, so I took J to his soccer game, and my dad picked Sarah up to take her to the volleyball game. 

 

This was one of the only Saturdays where the games didn't start too early, so I snapped a picture of both athletes in their uniforms before we left!

Jackson's team had picture day, and I can't wait to get his back!  I took this one while the actual photographer was getting the shot of their whole team!

This week was the first time J would cry when he would come over to the sideline when they were switching out players during the game.  He kept saying that he "wanted to go" which Bryan's dad and I thought he meant he wanted to go home.  Jack finally explained that he wanted to go back into the game and play!  So, we had to explain that you have to take turns--which was different than last week's game when only 4 of our 8 players showed up, so they each had to play the whole game!  We're really proud of our number 10!

Thank You Treats

Yesterday morning, I took the kids to the doctor's office for the flu mist and an immunization for Sarah.  As you might recall from the last time Sarah had to get shots, she is not a fan!  So, there was stalling and crying and her holding an ice pack on her arm that she brought from home and fear that she was going to "say a bad word"!  And finally after the sweet nurse threatened to get another--and bigger!--nurse to hold Sarah down, the needle finally went into Sarah's arm and she let out a loud, long scream!  Then, it was all over!  Praise Jesus!!  Sarah and I both apologized and thanked our wonderful nurse!  On the way home, we talked about how we should do something nice for her. 

 

So, Sarah made a super sweet thank you card:  "Thank you so much for putting up with me this morning.  I am so sorry that I was the worst kid ever.   Every time you deal with me, you should get a million dollars."  I baked her some chocolate chip cookies and wrote my own thank you note, and Jackson and I delivered it to her this morning.  I hope she'll still be our nurse!!

Tractors and Pumpkins

This morning, Jackson and I ran a few errands and had lots of fun!

 

We went to Lowe's and J wanted to get on one of the John Deere tractors.

He's actually always been too scared to get on one of these at Lowe's, but today, he couldn't wait to climb on!

Then, we went to pick up some pumpkins for jack-o-lanterns!  I love these pictures because they include all of J's favorite things:  Superman, rain boots, and lollipops!  The jeans with holes in the knees are just a cute bonus of our rough and tumble little boy!

This one makes me laugh because it seems as if he's contemplating something while sitting on a stack of pumpkins!
