Me and Mrs. Jones

A few weeks ago, my mom and I went to see Michael Buble in concert. He amazingly sings alot of the classics, such as "Call Me Irresponsible" and "I've Got You Under My Skin." Well, I fell in love with him and bought a couple of his CDs. Sarah's favorite song is "Me and Mrs. Jones." I know it's not the most appropriate song, but Sarah doesn't know what the lyrics actually mean, so I don't feel too bad! Sarah loves singing to it, so I just had to take pictures of her belting it out!

Homemade Strawberry Jam

PYesterday afternoon, Sarah and I made a batch of our homemade strawberry jam. Our best friends, Darbi and Michael, are having a housewarming party this weekend. Since we already bought them a gift when we saw their gorgeous house a few weeks ago, Sarah and I decided to make them homemade goodies this time. Tonight, we'll make our homemade brownies to accompany the jam.

Be Thankful!

Sarah's school is doing a project for the month of November. In honor of Thanksgiving day, they asked each family to decorate a feather that they provided. Next week, they will all be part of a huge turkey on a bulletin board in the main hallway. Sarah and I decided to tear up pieces of fall colored construction paper, then stamp out the words, "Be thankful!" and complete our creation with various shape stamps, (leaves, pumpkins, and apples). We just know ours is going to be the best--not that it's a contest, but still!!

A Picture for Papa Bear!

Bryan left yesterday for a month long rotation at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas. So, during art class, Sarah made him this picture. I think it's great! Her teachers do not tell them how to spell any words that they don't know; instead, they make them sound it out. I love that! I think her version of soccer--sokr--is perfect!

Star Student yet again!

Yesterday, when I picked Sarah up from school, she excitedly ran to me proudly announcing that she was the Star Student again! She was so happy! That's three times now! Tonight, Bryan and I are going to take her out for ice cream!

Too funny!

Tonight at dinner, (we had German pancakes with homemade strawberry jam and hashbrowns-yum), Sarah kept getting up from the table. Bryan finally got frustrated and asked her, "Why do you always have to get up and down while we're at the dinner table?" Without missing a beat, Sarah matter of factly replied, "Because I'm a wiggle-worm." She wasn't meaning to be funny or a smarty pants, but I thought it was hilarious!

Pumpkin Patch!

We have been going to the Pumpkin Patch every year since Sarah has been born! Fall is one of our favorite times of year!

Props for Bryan!

Bryan's Dean Letter was sent to him a few days ago for him to proof read before it is sent to all of the programs he's applied to. The following GREAT comments were made about him by the doctors he's worked with thus far:

• Intelligent, good work ethic and interpersonal skills.
• Functioned like a good intern.
• Good problem recognition, oriented diagnosis, and professional work habits.
• Very thorough, well-received, and meticulous. Will do very well.
• Knew his patients well and exhibited good bedside manner. A capable operating room assistant; will do well in his chosen profession.
• My experience with Bryan was good. He seemed to have a good knowledge base and answered questions appropriately and contributed to educational discussions.
• Quiet and attentive. He was able to assimilate clinical material well.
• Commended for ethic, for cooperation with peers, excellent communication skills, conscientious and strong knowledge base. Would be very welcomed in the residency.
• Good problem recognition, diagnosis, and communication.

I am SO proud of him! It is obvious that he's done an amazing job in medical school working on his various rotations, and I can't wait to see how great he does in residency!!

Bryan still rocks!

This is a very belated entry, but since the last interview update, Bryan has been invited to five other programs: Wichita, Kansas; Louiville, Kentucky; Kansas City, Missouri; Arkansas, and Mississippi! He asked me to accompany him to Kansas City. A long car ride with your spouse will determine how good your relationship really is!! Just joshin'! I am so proud of him!!

Report Card!

Sarah received her first report card yesterday! It was broken down into three categories: Not Yet, Emerging, and Developed. Sarah received Emerging in two areas--breaking words into syllables and skipping while alternating feet for 15 feet. When I was reviewing her grades with her, I told her that skipping was "almost there" and she got off the couch and told me that she could skip really well! What she proceeded to do was not exactly "skipping," but I told her great job any way. I seriously doubt that her lack of precise skipping skills is going to hold her back in life. I also doubt that her daddy can do an actual skip--alternating feet!--for 15 feet, and he's about to graduate from Medical School! In every other area, Sarah was Developed! Bryan and I are so proud of her, and we'll have to think of a special way to reward her for doing so great on her first report card!

Reading

Tonight, Sarah and I sat down to read My Big Book of Fairy Tales. I asked her which story she wanted to read, and she said, "I don't know. Let's look at the table of confidence." I attempted to inform her that it was called the "table of contents," but it was to no avail. As we all know, Sarah is always right....

Bryan rocks!

Bryan turned in his application for Residency two and a half weeks ago, and thus far, he has already been asked to interview at five programs: Lubbock, Oklahoma City, San Antonio, Houston and Lexington, Kentucky! (Lexington is his favorite "far way" program.) I am so proud of him! Tomorrow, he will be heading to Texas Tech for his first interview, and I know he's going to do GREAT!
