Family Date Night

Friday evening, we went on an overdue family date night!  We took the kids to the movies to see "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2".  Before Sarah was born, we bought her the books because they were some of Bryan's favorites when he was a boy.  She has adored reading them for years and really wanted to see the sequel, (Bryan took her to see the first one a few years ago)!

Bryan didn't want to be in the picture--and as you can tell, he got most of his wish!

We let the kids get a small bag of popcorn to share...and I packed candy and juice boxes in my purse!  Going to the movies is expensive!

Towards the end of the movie, Jackson climbed over his arm rest and sat with Sarah in her seat for the rest of the movie.  It was so sweet!  I snapped a picture of them as soon as the credits started rolling!

Two Star Students!

Last week, we had two Star Students in our house!

Sarah brought home her first report card in 5th grade!  Her grades were:  97, 97, 98, 99, 100, and 100!  We are so proud of our smarty pants!

Jackson was the "Star Student" in his MDO class.  He was so excited to sit in the special chair!

Overheard at Our House

Sarah and Jackson constantly crack us up, and I try my darndest to write down the things they say!

Sarah:  Here's my progress report.
Me:  These grades are great!
Sarah:  No, they're not!  I got a 96--that's almost a "B"!

Sarah:  Will you and Daddy pay my college intuition?

Sarah (while looking at a picture of Bryan and me from 12 years ago):  You look the same as you did in high school.  (She's getting extra Christmas gifts this year!)

Jackson:  Mes and toes!  Mes and toes!  Head, shoulders, mes, and toes!

Jackson:  I'm freakin' out!

Jackson and Mommy (as we're opening the blinds):  Good morning, world!  Good morning, sun!
Mommy:  Who made the world, Bubba?
Jackson:  The God!

Jackson (after tooting while he was naked after a bath):  Did you see my toot come out?!

Mommy:  I love you, Bubba!
Jackson:  I wove you, Pookie!

Jackson (as he was disobeying and Daddy was bending over to talk to him):  I want time out!

Jackson (while eating organic fish nuggets at dinner when Daddy was going to be home late--I thought I was buying organic chicken nuggets when I got them!):  He got a haircut! (after biting the fish-shaped nuggets head)  He got hurt!
Mommy:  What happened?
Jackson:  He got a boo-boo.  He got ketchup on him.  He got a blister.  He got hurt on the ketchup!

Jackson (wanting Daddy to give him ride on his shoulders):  Pwease wanna sit on your head!

Jackson (while eating sausage cheese balls during the Aggie game on Saturday):  No!  Don't eat my neatball!  Where's my neatball?

Jackson (while we were getting him in jammies last night):  Pwease kiss me cheek!

Cooking with Sarah

We haven't done a "Cooking with Sarah" meal in far too long, so about a week ago, Sarah picked out exactly what she wanted to cook, and on Saturday, she made dinner!

She started by making a bundt cake.  She loves cracking eggs, so she had fun with this part!

Then, she made fettuccine alfredo!

I guess Jackson felt left out, because while I was snapping pictures of Sarah, he grabbed a big spoon all by himself and starting helping her stir!  Luckily, Sissy didn't mind a bit!

The chef--and her sous chef!--with her meal:  fettuccine alfredo, caesar salad, and bundt cake!

Sarah turned the plain bundt cake into a hot fudge sundae cake with homemade whipped cream, chocolate ganache, sprinkles, and cherries!
The Aggies were still playing when Sarah's yummy dinner was ready, so Daddy ate in front of the TV in the den!  Ha!  It was all delicious!!  I can't wait until she cooks again!

Simple Family Time

Saturday morning after sleeping in, we ran a few errands together.

We stopped in Target just for a minute, so we decided not to get a shopping cart.  Without a cart to keep Jackson in, Papa Bear came up with another way to keep Jackson from running around!  It cracked me up!!

Before heading home, we got some frozen yogurt!  Jackson is pretending to have a brain freeze!

I tried to get a picture of Sarah and Daddy.  Sarah smiled sweetly, while Daddy scowled!  Ha!

Duck Pond and a Tractor

Thursday on our way home from school, Jackson and I stopped by the duck pond.  The ducks were surrounding our car while I was still parking!

Before J could tear the bread into pieces, the ducks would snatch the whole slice out of his hands!  He thought it was hilarious!

If I let him, I think he would follow the ducks right into the pond!

After feeding the ducks, we went to look at a tractor that has been parked in front of our neighborhood for about a month.

Jackson--like all boys--loves all types of tractors!

He knew that this tractor was a Caterpillar and not a John Deere!

How precious is he?!

Family

For as long as I can remember, all I ever wanted to be was a wife and a mom.  God blessed me beyond my wildest dreams with my precious little family.  I am so grateful for the three of them!
One of my favorite things to do is take pictures to capture our every day.  Some are simple and boring, but they're all memories that I want to remember.

The three of them reading together warms my heart.

Having fun at the splash park!

One Sunday after church, we went out for ice cream!  My twin and I got the same flavor--double chocolate with Oreos!

I hope he always wants to hold hands with me...

..and his sister and Daddy!

I always love when I can have tea parties with Sarah!

I love that they're best friends!

I just adore our sassy little girl!

One morning, Bryan had a few hours in between cases, so he came home, and we all went out for breakfast together!  I love how J's not looking at the camera because he's eyeing Sissy's whipped cream covered hot chocolate!

We made ice cream in a bag over the summer--it's one of Sarah's favorites!  Jackson was not a fan of shaking his up though, so I took care of his bag!

Jack did love eating it though!

Sarah showing off a fun art project that we made together!

This picture makes me laugh because Bryan's holding Jack back from falling into the fountain!

A regularly occuring tickle fight!

We had to drink from the garden hose this summer!

Love!

Sweet cuddles on the floor.

Sweet cuddles on the couch.

I took this picture as we were leaving church one Sunday morning.  I just love how much the kids love going to church and learning about Jesus, and I pray that they always will!

Two Aggie fans!

One day as I was laying on the couch, Bryan came and got on top of me.  Once Jack saw, he wanted to join in!  I love that Sarah was able to snap this picture of a typical moment at our house...before she joined in of course!

Teamwork!

Sweet girl.

This is currently my favorite family picture.  I am so blessed to call them mine!
