Baking with My Babies!

Yesterday afternoon, the kids and I baked up some yummy monster cookies!

I just adore being in the kitchen, and I love it even more when the kids and I can be in there together!

Even though I'm an adult, I still lick the beaters and spoons when I'm finished baking.  Sarah and Jackson on the other hand, prefer to lick the spoons while we're baking!  I'm so glad I was quick enough to snap this picture of the wee ones in the act!  I love it!

Jack likes to get his little hands into every bowl when he's in the kitchen.  And that includes the flour container!  He scooped several little handfuls out of the flour container and put it in a measuring cup.  Then, he decided to eat some flour.  As soon as he pulled his little fingers out of his mouth, he exclaimed, "Icky!"  When we were finished mixing the cookies, I asked Bryan to give J a bath--since he was covered in flour!!  Bryan took him into the bathroom, then came back out and asked why he had to bathe him while I put the cookies onto the baking sheet.  I told him, "that's the way the cookie crumbles!"  I was pretty proud of myself for my little smart comment--because Bryan's usually the one who's quick on his feet!  Ha!  Bryan laughed and then told me he was going to eat all of the cookies by himself!

If your kitchen doesn't look like this after you bake, you're not doing it correctly!  Ha!

Jackson's First Month of School

Jackson just finished his first month of school!  I can't believe it!  He just loves going twice a week, and he usually asks to go on the days he doesn't have school!  His teachers, Ms. Dana and Ms. Leah are the sweetest, and Jack could not adore them more!  Bryan and I try our darndest to teach the kiddos manners, so we have them call everyone Ms. and Mr.  At home, he refers to his teachers as Ms. Dana and Ms. Leah, but they told me that he calls them just Dana and Weah (he says "w's" instead of "l's"!) at school!  Ha!  They said that it warms their heart to hear him say their names though, because the vast majority of their other students just call them "teacher."

 Such a big boy!

His class does Show and Tell once a week.  J had no clue what this was, but we had fun decorating his Show and Tell can together!

He brings home lots of papers, and I love when they're actually colored!

He thought it was fun to have me take pictures of his artwork!

He gets a toy from the treasure box each week if he's good, and this little book is one of the prizes he picked.

Bryan got home early twice this month, and he was able to go with me to pick J up from school.  When Jack saw Daddy, he screamed his name, and did a running jump into his arms!  He was so excited!  Look at how cute they are together!!

A couple of days ago, they had a birthday party for their teddy bears!

Jackson loved taking one of his bears to school!  And I love that he chose this bear because Sarah actually stuffed this one when she was his age, and she gave it to J a couple of years ago.

This past week, they also had a Grandparents' Breakfast at school.  Jack loved having my Dad

and Bryan's Nana come!  He really enjoyed eating with them and showing them his classroom and his teachers!

I was so excited to be able to sneak this picture of J sitting in his chair!

This little magnet is the first craft Jackson has brought home, and I while cherish it always!  I love looking at it each time I'm in the kitchen!

Summer Memories

Right now, both kids are in school, and I'm missing them like crazy!  So, I thought I would look back at some pictures of their sweet faces from this summer.  We had a lot of fun together!

We had picnics together--some while watching a movie and having pizza before bedtime...

...and some outside!

We enjoyed lots of ice cream!

We built forts on rainy days.

We had cake for breakfast!

It has eggs and milk in it, so it's breakfast food, right?!

Again, we ate lots of ice cream!

The kids loved it!

We had fun doing art projects!

We made chocolate chip pancakes in our jammies!

We took lots of walks together.

But more than anything, we just enjoyed being together!

12 Years!

12 years ago today, my best friend asked me to be his girlfriend.  10 and a half years of marriage and 2 kids later, he still gives me butterflies!
This picture of us in our marching band uniforms from high school sits on our dresser and makes me happy every time I look at it!

First Day of School!

Today was Jackson's first day of school!  He's going to a Mother's Day Out preschool program at our church twice a week.  I am very blessed to be a stay-at-home Mommy, and I've taught him a lot of things over the past three years, but Bryan and I think that having other little play mates will be great for J!

I wanted to take a picture of Jack in front of the door just like I've always done with Sarah, but after several failed attempts, he wanted to sit down!  Look at how cute he is!  I love this picture...and I may or may not have bribed him with M&M's to get him to stay still and smile--he was excited to get to school to see his teachers!

This  picture I quickly snapped on my iphone--it's a blurry cheese face!

He's being shy in this picture, but I think it's so sweet.

 Can't stand the cuteness!

Jackson has been really excited to go to school and use his backpack and matching "wunch" box!  I've been asking him for the past couple of weeks what he wanted for lunch.  He always requested a cheeseburger, french fries, and ketchup!  I made him a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, wheat thins, grapes, and applesauce!

When Jack and I got to church, he was so cute wearing his backpack and carrying his lunch box!  He actually tried to go into the classroom right before his room because that's his class on Sunday mornings.  When I tried to tell him that wasn't his room today, I thought he was going to have a fit.  Luckily, he walked with me to his new classroom.  As we were holding hands, he asked me, "Mommy wanna go class?!"  Bless his heart!  I told him I had to go bye-bye.  He saw his teachers, Ms. Dana and Ms. Leah--who he's been talking about non-stop since "meet the teacher" last week--and was fine!  I put his backpack and lunch box away (which I was surprised he let go of!), and walked out of the classroom.  I watched from the hallway for a couple of minutes and smiled with my whole heart as I saw him happily playing with his new friends.  On my way home, all by myself, I teared up and prayed that he would have a great day, be nice, and obey his teachers.

Once Daddy got home, we continued our tradition of getting a treat on the first day of school with Jackson!  He loved his ice cream with sprinkles!

Football!

Saturday was the official start of college football season!  Bryan has waited 8 months for college football to be back!  It is his absolute favorite time of year!  So, we all got dressed in our Aggie apparel, had a ton of football snacks, and watched the ATM beat Rice!

I think the football cupcakes I made helped us win!

Jackson loves watching football with Papa Bear!

They would high five after each touchdown!

And when J wanted a break from watching the game, he would put on his Aggie helmet and ride!
