Report Card Time!

Sarah brought home her report card yesterday, and she did great! She was graded on things such as: constructing and using graphs, writing using the knowledge of sounds, and comparing and ordering objects by length, capacity, and weight. Her teacher, Mrs. McDaniel wrote, "Sarah is ready for the 1st grade!! She is doing excellent on AR! I am so proud of her progress!"
We are so proud of her!

Sarah on School

This morning, Sarah was reading me her AR book in preparation for her test today. Once she was finished, I told her that I was proud of her for doing such a great job. She replied, "It's all in a day's work for a super-smart girl." Then, on the way to school, Sarah said, "Mommy, I love math! And I love math tests, but I just can't bear it when there is only one problem though. I like when there are a lot of problems to solve."
What are we going to do with her?!

300

Yesterday, on the way home from Bryan's Nana's house, Sarah counted to 300. While we were proud of her, it made for a very long car ride! Haha!

San Antonio or Bust!

We found out today that Bryan matched to the San Antonio Anesthesia Residency program! We could not be more excited! It's close to our family and friends, and it won't be too hard to move everything there. I am so proud of Bryan!

Dump Cake

As part of the celebration for Bryan today, I baked one of his favorite cakes: dump cake.

Bryan Matched!

Bryan called a bit ago to say that he did match into an anesthesia program!! I knew that he would without a doubt match, but he still got a few butterflies while logging into the system to check. We will know on Thursday which specific residency program. We are so excited!! I am so proud of him!

Encyclopedias

Sarah and I went to Barnes and Noble the other day to use a gift card she received from her Aunt Rachel. With it, she bought two encyclopedias and a "Magic School Bus" book. She just loves reading her new encyclopedias! We've all learned a lot from them!

Bryan = Huge Ego

This is a picture of a stud finder.

This is a picture of Bryan holding the stud finder up to himself and making beeping noises.

I love that I'm married to an 8 year old!

A Reading Champ!

Today, Sarah took her final quiz for the Advanced Reading (AR) level that she was on, and has now moved up to the next level. Over the past few weeks, she has read 10 books totaling 1000 words and has received 100 on each of her quizzes for the reading. We are so proud of her! After school, I took her to Starbucks where we warmed up with hot chocolate--and read!--to celebrate. (We're going to take her out to dinner this weekend for a real celebration since Bryan had to work late at the hospital tonight.) I served her dinner on this plate:
I didn't take a picture of dinner since it was just sloppy joes and macaroni and cheese. Haha! Not fancy, but one of Sarah's favorites!

Bryan is an Intubating Pro!

Today, an emergency case came into the hospital, and Bryan had to do an emergency intubation called a rapid sequence induction. (Those are very hard to do he said since they have to be done so quickly--thus, the "rapid" part of the title!) Well, Bryan did a super job and said that everyone was very impressed. (This is not his typical ego talking; he really did get compliments from the Anesthesia doctor he's working with as well as the rest of the crew helping on the case.) The scrub tech told Bryan, "I've never seen a student put one in so fast."
I'm so proud of him!

Rules of Tea Time

Yesterday afternoon, Sarah and I had tea complete with scones and crackers and cheese. While I was preparing everything, Sarah decided to advise me of the "rules of tea time."
She said, "Rule number one: absolutely no slurping!" Then she added, "Rule number two: pinkies must be up when you're eating or drinking." She was serious about this one too because on more than one occasion, she scowled at me after seeing me without my pinkie in the air!

Birthday Party!

This weekend, we had a ball at Amy's birthday party that was held at Build-A-Bear. She and Sarah were best friends in their preschool class last year. Although they're at different schools for kindergarten, when they get together now, it's like they've never been apart!
The kiddos posing for a picture--Amy's hiding behind the Hello Kitty.
Although Sarah already has her cupcake, it almost looks as if she's eyeing the rest to make sure hers is just right!

Reading...everything

The other day, Papa Bear was wearing this shirt, (it's one of his favorites that I bought him a while back). Well, now that Sarah is so great at reading, she likes trying to read everything in sight. So, after some sounding out and help from Daddy, she finally read the shirt. Then, we both had to try to explain that "guns" are another word for muscles! Too funny!

Sarah Aced It!

This week, Sarah had a test over math and patterns. And she got a 100 on it! We are so proud of her--as always!

Date Night

Last night, Bryan and I had a date night. Normally for dates, we'll just put in a Netflix video and make coke floats after we tuck in Sarah, but since he's been gone for so long, we thought we would actually go out. So, we dropped Sarah off at his parents, and headed to downtown. First we went to Barnes and Noble to look around--one of our favorite places to go! Then, we went to the movie theatre--and used a gift card from my job--to see Taken, (which was excellent!). Afterwards, we came home and had dinner. We made salad, paninis, and chocolate covered strawberries. It was delicious! And with the gift card and making our dinner, the date night was completely free! Hot dog!

This is one of the paninis.
*For our anniversary, we decided to get each other gifts for the new house. So one of the presents I got for Bryan was a panini grill. It is our new favorite thing!

Sarah is Stylin'!
