Friday morning, Jackson and I to pick Sarah up from Band Camp. We were so excited to see her! Bryan unfortunately couldn't get off to go, so Bryan's mom went with us.
On Sunday, Sarah auditioned for her band placement. She'd been working on her two try-out pieces multiple times a day all summer, and she sounded great! She made the top middle school band! She was actually one of only two 7th grade trumpets to make that band! We were so proud of her! Sarah's band played four pieces and Debbie and I were blown away with how great they sounded! I actually teared up during "Colors of the Wind" because I was so proud of our baby!
After the concert, we met Sarah in the foyer of the auditorium. She scooped Jackson up and gave me the biggest hug! We were so happy to finally see her after 6 days! Sarah and J held hands on the way to her dorm room.
The concerts were held in the Jackson Auditorium on the Texas Lutheran campus, so we had to take J's picture in front of it--he thought it was too cool!
On the way home, Sarah told us all about her week at camp, and it was so fun to hear all of the stories! She thanked me for the cookies and cards we sent with her. She said that she looked forward to reading them each morning and that she would reread them if she was feeling homesick. She even took Daddy's card to rehearsal with her to read again when she needed extra motivation. That made my Mama heart so happy to hear! We're proud of our baby girl for stepping out of her comfort zone and going to band camp, but we sure are glad to have her home!
