Things We've Made!

Over the summer, Sarah and I did several crafts, and we had such a great time!
We made flower clips. Here are a few more!
Homemade play-doh was really neat!
Sarah loved playing with it!
Another yarn octopus like we made last year.
A no sew fleece blanket that Sarah loves to snuggle up in!
Homemade blackberry jam--so yummy!
Fingerpaint t-shirts!
A lava lamp using oil, food coloring, and Alka Seltzer.
This one was really cool!
*
Sarah and I had a ball making all of these crafts! It was something fun for just us girls to do while Jackson was napping! And except for the blanket, most of these projects were under $5, and some were even free because we already had the materials at home!

Just Like Me!

When we were at our friends' home for a cook-out last night, another little boy came. His name was Zach, and Jackson was thrilled when he got there! He's never played with anyone his size before! When Zach first arrived, Jack poked his face a few times, thinking, "Hey! You're just like me!" It was so funny, and it didn't seem to bother little Zach at all! Then, they played hide and seek and trucks the rest of the evening.
Aren't they too cute together?!

A Big Slide!

Yesterday, we were invited to two parties by our good friends and old neighbors from Ft. Worth. The first shindig was a birthday party for their 7-year-old, Sally--Sarah's best friend. It was at an indoor bounce house, and we thought Jackson would have fun going down one of the huge slides:
We were wrong...Jackson didn't like it! Haha!!
I unfortunately didn't get any pictures of Sarah and Sally--they were running around too much!

First Day of School!

Today, Sarah started third grade! I can't believe it! I say "I" instead of "we" because when I asked Bryan if he could believe Sarah was going to be in the third grade, he said, "Yes...third grade comes after second grade." Oh, Papa Bear!! Sarah couldn't wait to get to school this morning to learn what third grade had in store for her!

Our sweet 3rd grader!

This afternoon, we made our annual visit to the Starbucks at Barnes and Noble to discuss the day's events.
  • Sarah loves her new teacher, Mrs. Alvarado!
  • She made a ton of new friends.
  • She took a math test and got all 50 problems correct in 2 and a half minutes.
  • Sarah says it's going to be a great year!!

French Fries!

After Meet the Teacher the other night, we went to our favorite burger joint for dinner. Jackson discovered french fries while we were there, and he loves them!
The boy is just too cute!

Meet the Teacher

Last night we went to Meet the Teacher at Sarah's school. Sarah was so excited to find her classroom and put her supplies in her desk! While we were talking with her teacher, Mrs. Alvarado, Sarah met one of her classmates, and they immediately became friends! Before we left, Sarah even asked Mrs. Alvarado if she could be her helper this year, (she gets that from her Mama!)! There are only a few more days before school starts, and Sarah cannot wait!
Sitting at her new desk!

Jackson and Shoes

See Jack. See Jack walk.
See Jack's new shoes.
See Jack completely forget how to move his legs when his new shoes are put on his feet.
Don't let the boy fool you, though, he's still happy as can be. He's just happy as can be standing, not walking!
*
Last month, when he started walking all over the place, I put his little sandals on him, and nothin'! So, last week, I bought him another pair of shoes, (on clearance at Target!), and hoped that he would like these more and actually walk in them. Still, nothin'! I don't know what it is, but the boy doesn't move at all when we put shoes on him. He just stands there! We'll keep practicing!

Our Weekend in Pictures

Saturday morning, we used gift cards at our favorite bagel shop for breakfast! Jackson loves bagels! For dinner, the men grilled steak!
After putting Jack to bed, the three of us watched The Princess Diaries in our jammies.
Sunday, the kids went swimming!
Then, we ended the weekend with our favorite dessert--peach cobbler!

Behind the Picture

It seems like it's been awhile since I've taken a picture of both kiddos together, so a few days ago, I sat them down and got the camera out. This is the best picture I got:
What's going on in the picture--
  • Sarah is doing a great job smiling, as usual
  • Jackson is not looking at the camera, as usual
  • Sarah is trying to hold Jack's hand so he doesn't pull her hair, (one of his favorite past times!)
  • Jack is looking at Sarah trying to figure out another way to grab her hair...or rip off her glasses

Dessert for Dinner!

At the beginning of the summer, we decided that Tuesdays would be Pancake Day. Since we do it every week, we try to switch up the types of pancakes we make. And sometimes we'll have pancakes for dinner so Papa Bear can join in on the fun! Last night for dinner, I made cake batter pancakes--I saw the idea in a Rachael Ray magazine from my dad.
I put sprinkles in the batter, then instead of syrup, I made a powdered sugar glaze to go on top, then added more sprinkles! The pancakes weren't as thick as we normally make them, so I'll have to tinker with the recipe, but they were yummy! To make dinner a little healthier, I put together a big bowl of fresh fruit...and we also had bacon! : )
Sarah loved them!!

A Small Human!

While we were at the store, a little girl--who was maybe 4--saw Jack and said, "Look, Mom, a small human!" Haha!!

The Completed Wall

One of our favorite things in the master bedroom is the picture wall. Bryan and I picked out the photos together, then I had them enlarged and printed out in black and white--since most of our bedroom decor is black and white, and because I think it's just so classic and timeless. For a while after moving into this house, we just had 4 pictures on the wall. Then, Jackson came. It took over a year for me to add his pictures to the wall, but it's finally finished, and we love it!
Before After

Sweet Face

A few days ago, I took some pictures of Bubba playing peek-a-boo with one of the office doors.
I could kiss his sweet face all day!

A New Book

When my Dad came last week, he brought with him a few new books for Sarah. When she saw Moby Dick, she said, "Yes! I've been wanting to read this book!"
She finished it in 2 days and loved it!
