Superheros

For some time now, I've wanted to make Jackson a superhero cape, and a couple of weeks ago, I finally did!  I used this tutorial, and it was really easy!

When Sarah saw me working on Jack's, she asked if I could make her one too!  Of course!  The red shirt I used for Jackson's cape came from Bryan's side of the closet.  It was just a plain t-shirt that he had never worn, so he said I could make it into a cape!  For Sarah's, I bought a huge mens' shirt in purple--her favorite color!  The only other thing I had to buy was felt to sew their initials on.  So, the whole project cost about $6.00!

Jackson kept calling himself "Super Jackson" and he would fly around the whole house!  When I first put it on him, I told him it was a cape like Superman wears.  He has no idea who Superman is, other than the matching Superman shirts that he and Daddy wear!  He came up with the Super Jackson all by himself, and it cracked us up!!

I love this!!

I made a matching clip for Sarah using the leftover felt.  She loved it!

Look at him copying her!

Superheros still have to take a break to drink water...

...color...

...get help from Daddy...

...and love their Mommy!

Super Jackson to the rescue!

Bath Time

I love taking pictures of the kids doing regular, everyday things.  That includes bath time!  Jackson loves bath time!

This picture cracks me up!

He shouts, "Weeee!!!" alot during his baths!

A few weeks ago, I found these colored tablets that you can put into the bath to change the color of the water.  I'd actually been looking for these for awhile, so I was really excited!  Jackson's first bath was blue.  He loved it!

His swimming face!

The next day, J wanted a green bath!

Showing me a "J for Jackson!"

He's such a ham--especially during bath time!

After the bath, big, strong Daddy gets J out of the tub...

...and tightly wraps him up in his tiger towel--which causes Jackson to growl like a tiger!

Then, Daddy takes our little tiger to his room.

This is one of our favorite times of day, because Jackson goes from being our toddler to being our little baby again.  I just love the sweetness of this picture!

Spaghetti

Last night, I made chicken spaghetti and caesar salad for dinner.  Usually when we have spaghetti, Jackson will eat it with his hands because it's easier.  But last night, he saw the rest of us twirling ours, and he did it too!!  He's at such a fun age where he loves mimicking us, so we cracked up watching him twirl his spaghetti like a pro!

If he's not the cutest, then I give up!

Hair Cut

Jackson and I had a typical morning.  We took Sissy to school, then came home and got dressed for the day.  Then, we both got our own bowl of cereal, although we ended up sharing Mommy's--we always share cereal!  After eating, we reviewed animal flash cards and made the sounds of all of the animals we already know and also learned some new animals.  Next, we colored and drew pictures of our family, and Jackson made sure that Mommy put an A&M hat on everyone's head!  Then, we read some books, and Jackson showed me how he can drive in his car.  After all of that fun, it was time to go get a haircut!  We had been talking about it all morning!  I told J that he would get to drive the red car and watch a movie while the nice lady cut his hair!  Doesn't that sound like fun?!  So, we headed to the haircut shop!  (Daddy won't let Mommy call it a salon since J's a boy, so it's the haircut shop!)  We walked in, and Jackson was still doing great!  Then, we went to get in the red car, and he lost it!  And by lost it, I mean total melt down!  He was grabbing every part of me in an attempt to not sit down in the car and get his hair cut!  He was screaming and crying!  I offered him his snacks, his milk, the baggie of M&M's I had in my pocket, and the lollipops I had in my other pocket.  He wasn't having any of it!  After repeatedly trying to console him and repeatedly apologizing to Brandi, the sweet lady who was going to cut his hair, I finally asked her if we could sit in a chair with him in my lap.  She was more than fine with that option.  Jack wasn't a fan of that either though!  Brandi put a cape on me and a smaller one on Jackson.  Just in case you were curious, he did not like the cape!  She started cutting his hair with a trimmer.  We've always used just scissors, so this was new.  While she worked, I held his arms and his head, and Jackson showed off the power of his lungs.  I turned him around and Brandi did the other side of his hair.  When she was finished, Jackson immediately stopped yelling and crying.  Immediately!  He asked for his milk and his lollipop--which actually wasn't from my stash, but one that Brandi had given him and he threw on the floor (while still in the wrapper) as soon as we sat in the chair!  She took the capes off of both of us, and I asked her if she wouldn't mind taking a picture.  I really wanted to have a tangible memory of this day!

This picture cracks me up!!  Look at his red, puffy eyes!  Bless his heart!

When Sarah was 18 months, she had her first official hair cut at Mommy's salon, and she sat in my lap too!  Like her brother, she was not a fan!  I have two other pictures from this hair cut where she's really crying, but I just love this one because she's holding on to me!

I was really hoping that since this was Jackson's second professional hair cut, he would have behaved better since he knew what was coming.  Boy, was that wishful thinking!  Regardless, his hair looks great, and Brandi got a hug from Jack and a huge tip!

Report Card

On Friday, Sarah brought home her report card.  As usual, she did great--two 97's, a 99, and two 100's!!  We are so proud of her!

Friday evening, we had our first official house showing scheduled, so we went out to dinner.  Since Sarah did such a great job on her grades, we let her pick out a special dessert.  She chose flan, and Jackson at over half of it!  Luckily, Sarah's great at sharing, so it didn't bother her in the least!

Baking Cookies

Last Thursday, after picking Sarah up from school, the kids and I made some cookies.  Since we always have M&M's in the house--because they are the kids' favorite candy--we added them to our chocolate chip cookies.

Jackson always goes in for a big bite of dough...and I can't blame him!

I hope they always love being in the kitchen with me!

When the timer went off for the first batch to be taken out of the oven, I came back into the kitchen to find Jackson had moved his chair back to the island and was stirring the batter with his play spoon from his toy basket!  I would have taken a picture of him in the act, but he got down as soon as he saw me!  Ha!

The kids loved the addition of the M&M's!  And so did Bryan--he had three when he got home from work!

Jackson waited patiently for me to let him know the cookies were cool enough for him to finally eat one.  I LOVE this picture!!

I love baking with my babies!

Rainy Day

Yesterday, it rained quite a bit here, so after nap time, Jackson and I went out for a walk!  By the time we got outside, it had actually stopped raining, but I'd been waiting for an opportunity for him to use his new umbrella, so we brought it with us anyway.  I took way too many pictures of him in his little rain boots carrying his umbrella because he was just so cute!

He loved his Car umbrella!

Love it!

He felt like such a big boy carrying his very own umbrella!

I'm glad he now has his own umbrella, because when we run errands in the rain, he likes to hold the umbrella, which means, Mommy gets wet!  Now, we can both hold our own!

As much as he loved puddle jumpin' over the summer, he really didn't jump in it very much yesterday.

He is just too cute!

Doctor's Day

Last Thursday, Bryan came home from work carrying the lunch that I packed for him that morning.  He said that it was Doctor's Day, so the hospital got them sandwiches for lunch.  Very fancy, huh?!  I felt bad that I didn't know it was Doctor's Day, so I really wanted to do something special.

I looked it up, and discovered that Doctor's Day is actually on March 30th.  Sweet Sarah made him a card and put it on his night stand.  (Those are band-aids!)

Saturday night, after tucking the kids into bed, I made Bryan a homemade peach cobbler.  He works so hard as a husband, father, and doctor, so baking his favorite dessert was the least I could do for him on Doctor's Day!  (I told him to pose with the cobbler, and this is what he did.  I guess he's smelling it...)
