Superheros

For some time now, I've wanted to make Jackson a superhero cape, and a couple of weeks ago, I finally did!  I used this tutorial, and it was really easy!

 

When Sarah saw me working on Jack's, she asked if I could make her one too!  Of course!  The red shirt I used for Jackson's cape came from Bryan's side of the closet.  It was just a plain t-shirt that he had never worn, so he said I could make it into a cape!  For Sarah's, I bought a huge mens' shirt in purple--her favorite color!  The only other thing I had to buy was felt to sew their initials on.  So, the whole project cost about $6.00!

Jackson kept calling himself "Super Jackson" and he would fly around the whole house!  When I first put it on him, I told him it was a cape like Superman wears.  He has no idea who Superman is, other than the matching Superman shirts that he and Daddy wear!  He came up with the Super Jackson all by himself, and it cracked us up!!

I love this!!

I made a matching clip for Sarah using the leftover felt.  She loved it!

A Wonderful Day!

Today, was a wonderful day with my babies!

 

Bryan had to work, so I decided to take the kids to Chick-fil-A for breakfast.  It was a rare treat, and I loved being able to just soak them in!  Isn't Sarah so sweet helping Jack with his milk?!

Yesterday, during nap time, I made a batch of cinnamon playdough using this recipe.  It called for simple ingredients that I already had at the house.  (Actually, my cream of tartar expired in February, but it didn't seem to affect the recipe!)  Sarah wasn't feeling well when we got home from school, so Jack and I played with it.

He actually took a bite of it, and although it was completely edible, it was yucky, so he didn't really want to play after that!  I think the poor guy was confused, because the last time I made playdough, it consisted of peanut butter, honey, and powdered sugar, so when he munched on that recipe, it was yummy!

Today, Sarah joined in on the playdough fun!

She is the best helper to him!

While Jackson was napping, Sarah and I built the stable for our Nativity scene.  I saw this idea via Pinterest from this site.  We used green frosting (that I had on hand for another project) to adhere the graham crackers together.  It's not the prettiest with the green, but I don't think Jesus minds.  When we made the manger for Jesus, Sarah suggested that those could also be park benches for the Nativity scene.  What?!  I then asked her if she thought they had park benches when Jesus was born.  She thought about it for half a second and started cracking up!  I then asked her why our Savior was born in a stable.  Sarah replied that all of the hotels were full.  Goodness me!  I told her to go read her Bible!! 

Here, the kids are sprinkling coconut flakes for snow.  I didn't take any other pictures of the building process, because we were all hard at work!

We had such a wonderful time making this!  I can't wait to make this one of our yearly traditions!!

Christmas List

Since we're now half way to Christmas, I thought I would do a recap of our 25 Days of Christmas thus far!  I actually haven't taken a picture for each day, and some days, I possibly took too many pictures!

 

The Elf on the Shelf came to see us for the first time this year!  We all love him!

 

I asked Sarah what she wanted his name to be, and at first she didn't know.  Then I asked Jackson, "What should his name be?"  J then shouted "Name be!!" over and over!  Later, Sarah decided his name should be "Pip."  So, his official name is now "Pip Namebe!"  Every morning, the kids come down and look for him.  It's so much fun!  I'll have to post more pictures later!

 

Next up, we got snowman cookies from Starbucks.  Jackson is really into snowmen and wants to hug them every time we see one at a store.  Bryan got to go into work late last Monday, so we took J to get a cookie for breakfast.  Cookies have eggs in them, so they're basically breakfast food, right?!

This actually wasn't on our list, but it was Christmas-y, so I wanted to include it.  Last Friday, Bryan was on call, so after dinner and baths, I baked some chocolate chip cookies and we watched A Charlie Brown Christmas.  It was so fun to do something different before bed--the kids loved it!

(When we make our homemade cookies, I always freeze some of the dough in little balls, so I can pop them into the oven whenever we want cookies!)

We also made reindeer shirts.  Sarah's class made these 2 years ago, and I couldn't wait to make some of our own!  I actually thought Sarah would be "too old" to do this project, but when I asked her if she wanted to make one, she got really excited!  When I was painting her hands and feet, she said, "I love making crafts with you, Mommy!"  Melted my heart!  I already had all of the fabric paint in my stash, and Sarah already had a white shirt.  I spent less than $4 on a shirt for J, and I bought it in a 3T so it will fit him for at least another year!

I hot glued bows onto Sarah's and added eyelashes.  I love how girly it is!

It was hard to get a good picture of Jackson in his shirt--he doesn't pose for me like Sarah does!

On Saturday night, we went to a local university that has Christmas lights all over their campus.  It was so fun to walk around!  I love this picture of Sarah in front of the Nativity scene. 

 

Yesterday afternoon, we made snowflakes. 

 



I bought Jackson a pack of safety scissors for toddlers that only cut paper, but they actually didn't work that well once the papers were folded! He didn't mind though; he just kept shouting "snowflakes!"
