Pie for Dinner

Pie is one of Bryan's favorite foods.  So, I baked yesterday while the kids were at school, and I thought I would be fun to have pie...for dinner! 

 

I made apple pecan upside pie--which is one of our favorites.

And then, I made a buttermilk pie.  I first had this at a church get together made by one of the guys in Bryan's Bible study.  It was fantastic, and I knew I wanted to learn how to make it!  This was Jackson's first time having buttermilk pie, and it became his new favorite!

It was fun to do something different by having dessert for dinner!  Although, I think it was a little too much sugar at one sitting! 

Biscuits with Jackson

Last night, we had one of our favorite dinners--pork chops on top of pumpkin butter covered grits with sautéed spinach on the side.  I thought homemade biscuits would be the perfect addition to our yummy meal.

 

Since Jackson is our good ol' southern boy and loves helping me in the kitchen, I thought it would be fun to teach him how to make biscuits.

Our finished biscuits!  They were so yummy...probably because of the extra love Jackson added!  When we were washing up after dinner, Jackson told me, "My tummy says ghag you for feeding me!"  He's the cutest!

A Sweet Compliment

Yesterday morning, Jackson had a dentist appointment.  It was his second visit, and his first time to go back without me and sit in the big exam chair.  When the sweet dental technician came out to the waiting room after his check-up, she told me that he was excellent.  I was so proud of him!  Then, she paused from telling me about his cleaning and asked me if I was Jackson's nanny or his Mom.  I told her that I was his Mom.  She laughed and said that I look too young to be his Mother.  I then laughed and said, "Bless your heart; you are so sweet!"  It made my day to get such a compliment from a person I had just met!  It was a nice reminder that it really takes nothing at all to lift someone up and brighten their day! 

Date Day

Yesterday after church, Bryan and I had a date day!  We went to a movie--the first one we've been to in 2 years--then out to lunch.  We just love being together, and we had such a great time holding hands during the movie, talking, and laughing!

Hot Chocolate

Saturday was our first really chilly day of the season, so we did one of our favorite cold weather traditions--made a hot chocolate bar!

To go with it, we had homemade whipped cream, two kinds of marshmallows, cookies, and sprinkles!  It was so yummy and the perfect way to warm up on a cold day!

Soccer Star!

This week, we signed up to take the snacks for Jackson's soccer game.  Bryan thinks I went overboard...I think I nailed it!

Our regular Coach's wife had a baby yesterday, so one of the other Dads filled in as Coach today.  He was so nice!

Before the game started, all of the teams gathered in the middle of the huge football/soccer field and said the Pledge of Allegiance while the Star Spangled Banner played!  It was so awesome!  Bryan was with Sarah at her volleyball game, but I was really hoping he would have been there for this part--he would have loved it!  'Merica!

There were only 4 players at the game this morning, so they all had to play the whole time!

At the end of the game, the parents formed a tunnel for the kiddos to go under while we clapped and gave them high fives!

Then, the Coach talked about today's game...with all four of the players!

Jackson got the medal this week for his "positive attitude"!  We are so proud of him!  I wish I didn't catch him when he was blinking, but I love this picture!  The poor little friend next to him wanted the medal.

I Wike You!

Jackson cracks us up with the things that he says, and I try to write them down so I don't forget.  This afternoon when we got home from school, he said, "I wike you, Mommy!  You're a fuzzy wittle pet!"

Daddy and Sarah

This year, Sarah has activities 3 nights a week--volleyball and Bible study.  I usually drop her off, and Bryan usually picks her up.  When Bryan picks her up, they like to drive around for a bit just the two of them.  Last night, after Bible study, Bryan called and said they were going to go to Dairy Queen on their drive and asked if I wanted anything.  Our schedules are pretty busy, so I think it's really sweet that they spend this time together...and when ice cream's involved that makes it even sweeter!

 

When they got home last night, I wanted to snap a picture to remember their little dates.  And I think it's very fitting that Bryan happened to be wearing his Super Dad shirt...because he really is a Super Dad!
