Food for the Soul

I love to cook and bake, especially for my sweet little family.  Last week, we had some special treats that were just good for the soul.

Bryan was having a rough day on Tuesday, so after getting off the phone with him while he was at work, I tried to think of what I could do to hopefully brighten his day.  Luckily, I had all of the ingredients for one of his favorite desserts, so I baked him a pecan pie!
When Jackson got home from school, he asked why I baked a pie. I told him it was to cheer Daddy up, and Jackson said, "I had a rough day. I need pie too!"

Sarah and I love getting dressed up and speaking in British accents and having tea parties.  We also love having impromptu tea parties on a Tuesday evening!

One of Jackson's favorite book right now is "Hey!  Wake Up!" by Sandra Boynton.  There are a couple of parts about broccoli stew in it, and it always cracks Jackson up!  So I thought it would be fun to have broccoli stew (broccoli cheese soup) for dinner.  Although he loves broccoli, he didn't like the stew that much!  Ha!

Sarah was having a rough day on Thursday.  She got a 94 in history on her report card! We told her that was still a great grade...but she doesn't think so. I bought one of her favorite treats at the store that day--powdered sugar donuts. I was going to surprise her with them for breakfast, but I thought she could really use some Thursday night!

Do you like "see food"?!  I'm not going to lie...I'm the one who taught him this classic joke!

It makes me laugh every time he does it!

On Saturday, Jackson helped me make dinner.  Sometimes when he helps me cook, it takes longer, but I just love being in the kitchen with my babies, so I love when he pulls up the chair next to me!

New Shoes

Yesterday, Jackson picked out a new pair of shoes!  Bubba spotted these light up Lightening McQueen shoes while I was looking at another pair of shoes for him.  He kicked off his rain boots and was trying them on before I could turn around!  Bryan and I had just been talking about getting him a pair of light up shoes, so this was perfect timing!  In addition to these, I got him a new pair of dress shoes for church--they don't light up though!

J was so excited to wear his new shoes to school today!  He kept saying that he couldn't wait to show his friends and Ms. Jennifer and Ms. Amy!

Big and Little

The other day, as Jackson was laying on the couch watching TV, I couldn't get over how big he looked!

I had to grab the camera and capture his cuteness!  I wish he would stop growing!!

But I guess J doesn't think he's that big, because later while he was grilling us some dinner, he decided to sit inside his grill!  I had to help him out...after I took a picture, of course!

Be You Bravely

I always want my baby girl to be confident in who she is. I want her to know that she's beautiful inside and out. I never want her to forget that she is fearfully and wonderfully made. And I pray she knows that we thank God for blessing us with her everyday.
Also, when your daughter has no problem being your twin--even in public!--you're winning at life!

Spring Break

Last week, the kiddos were off for Spring Break, so we tried to do a few of their favorite things!

First, we went to Barnes and Noble--or as Jackson calls it, "the book store."

While Sarah picked out some new books with her gift cards, Jackson played with the trains.

Before we left, Jackson got to pick out a book of his own to buy!

Then, we got some ice cream for lunch!

Due to Spring Break, Bryan didn't have his Tuesday night Bible study, so I thought it would be fun to have a date night on the couch with one of our favorite meals--spicy sausage pasta.  I was going to make a dessert to go with it, but instead I just bought our favorite Little Debbie's snacks!

On Wednesday, we went to the library.  The kids LOVE the library!

Jackson got all Curious George books--his favorite!

And Sarah found 5 new books.  When we were in the car after checking the books out, she said "it was a good haul!"  Our little book worm cracks me up!

Jack listened to a book on the computer...

...then did a puzzle while Sissy finished getting her books!

After the library, we went to Starbucks!

On Friday, Bryan was post call, so after we all slept in, we made pancakes.  I made the kids' names, while Bryan made regular pancakes for the two of us!  Then, we all ate them in our jammies!

Bryan's Dad has been teaching Sarah how to play the guitar, so on Saturday morning while it was raining out, the kids had a jam session!

Since Sarah has a big guitar, she gave Jackson her old one.  He was so excited to have one of his own and be just like Sissy!

It was so fun to listen to Sarah play!  She's so talented!!

And it was so fun to watch this cutie strum his heart out!

I love her little face!

Sarah sweetly let J get in her lap so they could play together!

I just love watching the two of them together!

Sleeping Baby

Thank you, God. Thank you for blessing us with our precious little boy. Thank you for the sweet way he puts his hands under his cheek when he sleeps. Thank you that it doesn't wake him up when I sneak into his room to check on him and then proceed to take pictures of the cuteness. Thank you that he loves sleeping with his little dog, Rufus. Thank you for his amazing eyelashes. Thank you for his dinosaur sheets. Thank you.

Jackson and Sarah

Yesterday, Jackson was asking me when he could get married. (I have no idea where it came from!) Finally, he said, "I wanna marry Sarah. She's good."

Breakfast at the New House

Tuesday, Bryan and I got the keys to our new house.  Bryan's case yesterday morning got canceled, so after we dropped Jackson off at church, we headed over with some boxes in tow.

Bryan and I had breakfast in the kitchen--my favorite room!  We toasted each other with our coffee and had such a sweet little meal together!

Dr. Seuss Day

Yesterday, they celebrated Dr. Seuss at Jackson's school, and his best friend's mom made shirts for Jared and Jackson to wear!

Needless to say, the boys loved them!

Reading

This morning, it was raining out, (and I'm sick), so Jackson and I stayed home and read a ton of books!

I just adore that he loves to read and will curl up in my lap and let me read a huge stack of books to him!

We've been working on sight words, and I'm always so proud when he can read them to me!

Some books I've been reading since Jackson was Sarah's age, so I have them memorized...and so do Jackson and Sarah!

I hope he always loves to read...just like his big sister does!
