Jack’s Birthday

On the night of Jack’s birthday, we did our traditional home cooked meal.  This year, it was coconut curry with the shark that the boys caught on their trip to the gulf last year and grilled oysters.  J was so happy!

Then, on Saturday, we went to the restaurant of his choice.  He chose one of our favorites—brunch at Blue Mesa.  We haven’t been in years, and it was amazing, just as it always is!  Jack kept thanking us for taking him—even though it’s one of our many birthday traditions—it was so sweet!

Happy 14th Birthday, Jack!

14 years ago today, God blessed us with our second baby. Watching him grow into the amazing young man he is has been one of our greatest joys.

He may be taller than both of us now, but he’ll always be our baby!

Father's Day

On Sunday, we celebrated our absolute favorite guy!

Bryan is truly the best Dad (and husband!), and we are so grateful he's ours!

After church, we had a bratwurst feast and watched a war movie.  According to Bryan, it doesn't get much better!  We love him so!

Jack Goes to Camp!

Last Saturday, we picked Jack up from his week long stay at Pinecove.  He has been attending this Christian camp for the past 6 years now, and he loves it!

Jack with his counselor, Flow--his real name is Connor!
When we got there to pick J up, his counselor told us what a blessing it was to have Jack in his cabin.  He said that Jack was such a great listener, did an awesome job leading the Bible discussions, and always offered to help him and the cabin mates.  We are so proud of Jack!

We missed him so much, and we were so excited to have him back home!

Bryan's Birthday

Last Wednesday, we celebrated Bryan's 40th birthday!

He has said for the past few years, that he wanted the theme for his 40th birthday to be Mike Gundy's famous rant, "I'm a man!  I'm 40!" so that's what we did!

One of our traditions is that you get to pick what restaurant you want to go to, and this year, Bryan chose one of our favorite burger places!

Once we got home, we lit the candles for his birthday bread pudding.

Because there were 40 candles, it was more than a one man job!

One of our other traditions is a homemade meal, and this year, Bryan picked pork ragu and bruschetta.  Bryan and I made it together, and it was delicious!

It was so fun celebrating Bryan!  He's the absolute best, and we hope he had the best 40th birthday!

Mother's Day

On Sunday, I had the honor of celebrating my 21st Mother's Day!

Thank you, God for blessing me with these two!

Being their Mama and Bryan's wife are my two favorite roles ever, and I am beyond grateful to God for blessing me with these 3!

Billy's Graduation

Last week, we went down to San Marcos to celebrate Billy graduating!

He graduated summa cum laude in Criminal Justice--all in 3 years!

After graduation, we went out to dinner with his parents to celebrate.  Then, on Friday, we went out to celebrate him again!

We are so proud of him!

German Fest

On Saturday afternoon, we traveled to Muenster to go to the German Fest!  It was so delightful!

The first thing we did was walk around to check out all of the food options.  The boys knew they wanted bratwurst.  Obviously.  We also shared funnel cake, a huge pretzel, and strawberry lemonade.

Jack did a great job at axe throwing.

This is one of his favorite activities to do at camp each summer.

We had a blast!

Field Trip--Hot Chicken Edition

Jack loves hot chicken!  So, on Friday, for our second field trip of the week, we went to 2 hot chicken restaurants to compare and contrast!

First up, was Dave's Hot Chicken, which is one of J's all time favorite restaurants!

Then, we went to Ricky's Nashville Hot Chicken.  We had never been there before.  Jack ordered the same spice level at both restaurants to ensure that it was a fair competition.

Both Jack and Bryan said that Ricky's was a lot spicier!  And overall, the winner was Dave's Hot Chicken!

We all had a blast on this field trip!  And Diamond loved trying both types of hot chicken too!
