Date with Jackson

Since Sarah was spending the night at a friend's house yesterday, Jackson and I had a date! 

 

Our first stop, the park!

We had such a great time playing at the park together!

I pushed him on the swings a lot, and it reminded me of the countless times I would push him on the swings when he was a baby.  They've always been his favorite!

He thought this little digger was so fun!

 

When I wanted to take a picture of us, it was his idea to kiss!

After the park, we grabbed a drink at Starbucks, then got his hair cut, and then went to Target to get a few things.  After dropping the groceries off at the house, we went to a new frozen yogurt shop that J's been wanting to try since before they opened!

 

 It was a yummy little treat!

 

When Bryan and I started going out in high school, we went to Schlotzsky's for our first date. So going on a date there with our son...and Mr. Monkey, was the sweetest!  It was the perfect way to end our day together! 

I had the best time with Jackson, and it was actually a little bittersweet because I'm sure this is our last date-day before he starts kindergarten in a little over a week!

Peach Cobbler and a Cutie

Sunday night, Sarah was at a sleepover, Jackson had been tucked in, and Bryan was doing yard work. So, I decided I'd make my honey a peach cobbler for a little date once he finished working (and showering!). Well, a certain little cutie heard me in the kitchen, tiptoed downstairs, and asked if he could watch me cook. Then, he saw his reflection in the pot and cracked up! It was the sweetest little moment, and it made me so grateful that he came down to join me!

A Trip to the Museum

Last Wednesday, Bryan was post-call, so we had a family fun day!

 

We went to the Perot Museum and loved it!

Sarah's favorite part was the space exhibit.

 

 

Jackson's favorite part was the dinosaur exhibit!

Jackson was imitating the T-Rex here!

As soon as I saw this, I had to snap a picture!  So sweet!

 

 

The last thing we did was see a dinosaur movie.  It was so neat!  When it was over, J punched Sissy, then said he did it because, "I'm a T-Rex!"

Pancake Tuesday

It's Pancake Tuesday again!  This morning, we had vanilla chia pancakes...

 

...and apparently Jackson thought it was hilarious!

Baking with my Babies

Yesterday, after church, the kids and I made a pound cake, and Daddy was sweet enough to take pictures!

 

 We all put on our aprons!  As soon as I put Jack's on, he started calling himself, "Chef Jackson!"

Sarah and I have matching ones, and I love it!

He's pretending to be angry because he wanted to crack the eggs!

Fancy Breakfast

When Bryan and I went to Chicago last year for his board exam, we went to this one restaurant for breakfast twice because it was that good.  This morning, I recreated the dish--French toast with mixed berry mascarpone, blackberry coulis, and creme anglaise. Sometimes it's fun to pretend that we're fancy!

He truly is the best son ever, and I truly am one happy mommy! I am so grateful to God for blessing me with him!

This sweet girl made me a Mommy, and I thank God countless times each day that He picked her for me and me for her. She is my best friend, and I love her so!

Ten Years Ago

10 years ago today was Bryan's first day of medical school--or doctor school--as our then 2-year-old Sarah called it.  After applying to med school while in his final year of college, he was actually put on the waiting list.  It was a crushing blow.  We didn't know what we were going to do, and we were devastated that Bryan's dream might not come to fruition.  So, we looked into other paths to take and tried to be patient and trust God.  Then, one afternoon, Bryan received a phone call asking if he still wanted to attend med school.  Um, duh!  We were beyond thrilled and so grateful to God!  A few weeks later, on August 1st, Bryan started doctor school!  As he did with everything, he worked really hard and ended up making the Dean's List each semester, being asked by the school to tutor the class beneath his, and graduating in the top ten!  I am so proud of my husband for all that he's accomplished in the past 10 years of his medical career!  And in those 10 years, he's inspired me each day.  He truly is an amazing doctor!
