Question...

What happens when dear friends of the family ask an innocent pregnant lady if she would like to buy Girl Scout Cookies?
She buys 4 boxes!! This isn't even all of the cookies either--the Thin Mints are in the pantry, (I didn't want them to effect the flavor of the other cookies!).
In my defense, I supported our friends' adorable little daughter. And I read that chocolate and carbs are good for the baby!!
I also bought a box from the nice crossing guard at Sarah's school (his granddaughter). So, for those of you counting, yes, that's 5 boxes! I just can't help myself when it comes to these once a year treats! Don't worry, I'll pack some in Bryan and Sarah's lunches too!

A Self Portrait

One of my favorite "toys" of Sarah's, is her easel. Half dry-erase board, half chalkboard, all fun! We've done everything on it from great drawings to reading and writing practice to math problems. We just love it! Yesterday, this is what she created:
An adorable self portrait!
(I love how she's accessorized and everything! : ) )

Anniversary

Today, is our 7 year wedding anniversary! I can hardly believe we've been married that long! I am so blessed to be sharing my life with my best friend!
Since Bryan has to work until 7 tonight, I'm just going to make him one of his favorite dinners: tortellini with homemade meat sauce and white chocolate fondue for dessert!

Riverwalk Fun!

For the past few days, our good friends were in town, so Friday afternoon, we went to the Riverwalk. It was so much fun!
Sarah and Daddy posing along the Riverwalk. Me and Papa Bear
Sarah and Daddy overlooking the river on a bridge.
Us on the boat before we went on the tour. This was Sarah's favorite part of the trip! She loved seeing all of the buildings and hearing about their history as we rode along.

Baby Clothes

On Monday after my appointment, I headed to Target to get some clothes for the baby. I bought about 7 onesies, which I wasn't planning on, but in my defense, they were on sale! Soon I'll go back and get Jackson some cute button down shirts with the sweater vests over them!!
Bryan really likes the one that says "Daddy and me" because it's for him and in Cowboy colors. What a nerd!

Baby Update!

Yesterday, I had my 19-week sonogram and check-up.
So, we now know that in my growing belly, is a... BOY!!!
Bryan started his first day in the ER yesterday, so he unfortunately couldn't go with me to the appointment. So, I decided to surprise him when he got home last night. I baked a cake and filled the middle with vanilla frosting tinted blue and covered the outside with homemade chocolate frosting. He was excited when he cut into it! He called it a "boy cake"!
It was yummy!!
Here's a picture of little Jackson's face!
Bryan and I are so excited! And after much deliberation, Sarah came to the conclusion this weekend that she wanted a baby brother instead of a sister. That way, she doesn't have to share her "Prince Charming Daddy" with anyone else. How adorable is that?! Yesterday after homework, Sarah hugged the baby and said, "Hi, Jackson! I'm your big sister Sarah! I'm going to teach you everything!" Love it!!

Awards Ceremony

Yesterday afternoon, Sarah's class had another awards ceremony for the completion of their second nine weeks of school. Luckily, Bryan got off from his call shift in the NICU just in time to see it too! Sarah was so excited that Daddy was there!
Sarah being silly behind one of her prizes! Now she's smiling for the camera! This was her award for excellent citizenship!
(I don't know why the little girl seated in front of her is glaring at me though!)
Just like last nine weeks, Sarah received awards for her academics, citizenship, and attendance. Bryan and I are so proud of her!

Dancing Videos!

Here are the two videos of Sarah's dance recital. I'm terribly sorry they're sideways, (it's from how I was holding the camera!) Either way, she's still adorable!!

Sarah's tap performance!

Creative movement and ballet!

Dance Performance

Yesterday was Sarah's last day of dance class. Luckily, Bryan was off, so we were both able to go see her performance. And for the record, she was wonderful!!
First, they showed us their gymnastics skills.
Here's Sarah, just hangin' out!
Carefully walking across the balance beam. The double bars.
After their ballet and tap performances, all three students were awarded these medals. Sarah was super-duper excited to receive it!!

Famous Artist

Earlier this week, we went to a local restaurant for dinner because Sarah had artwork featured there! She was one of 22 first graders whose masterpieces were chosen for display, and we had to go see it! (Besides, we chose to go on the night that kids eat free, so it was perfect!)

Sarah's Artwork

When we arrived at the restaurant, Sarah kept asking if people there were going to want her autograph, but unfortunately none of the staff or patrons requested it. They'll regret that one day! : ) Bryan and I are very proud of her and her creation!

Shoes

While this may seem like a normal, (albeit cute!) shoe, there is something special about it. This morning, Sarah tied it for me! She can now officially tie shoes!! Hot dog! I attempted to teach her while in Kindergarten, and even though she's a genius, (no, I'm not biased), she never quite grasped the concept. Then, I meant to teach her over the summer, but with moving and unpacking and life, I forgot. So, this weekend, we did it! I am so excited--especially because it will come in handy as my belly gets bigger! Haha! And as we were leaving school this afternoon, she told me that she even tied her friends' shoe twice today, because he doesn't know how to yet!!

Lunch Date

Yesterday, Bryan and I surprised Sarah by bringing her lunch to school.
Sarah and me outside the cafeteria
We didn't tell her we were going to bring her Chick-fil-A and eat with her, so I still put her lunchbox in her backpack that morning. I even put a juice box inside to make it feel heavy! But, Ms. Zarate said that as soon as they got to class, Sarah opened up her lunchbox to see what I had packed her, (her teacher also said that Sarah has never done that before! Haha!) When she only saw the juice box, Ms. Zarate said she got so sad that I forgot to pack her lunch and didn't want to have to eat what the cafeteria made! Luckily, I had told her teacher the day before that we would be surprising her, so she just played along! Sarah was so relieved to see us standing there with actual food when her class arrived at the cafeteria! We had a good time eating with her...only next time, I may not surprise her!

Cool Gift

Our best friends, Darbi and Michael, got Sarah all sorts of beauty gifts for Christmas, and this towel was one of them. Sarah loves using it to wrap her hair up after bath time! I thought it was so cute, I had to take a picture!

Baby Update

This morning, I had another prenatal check-up, and it went great! The baby's heartbeat was 154, which the doctor said was perfect. I was really excited to hear that the baby was healthy. The doctor also said that my lab work from 5 weeks ago came back fine. Bryan unfortunately able to go since today was his first day of his NICU rotation, but I called him afterwards with the update.

New Skates

A few days ago, we took Sarah out on her new roller blades! She had a ball!!
Bryan held onto her the whole time, but by the end, I think she was getting the hang of it!
This was the only time she ended up on the ground, but because Papa Bear was holding onto her, she went down slowly! While on the sidewalk, she said, "It's fine, I'm good!"
