Today was Mad Scientist Day at school. They're going to do experiments all day, and Jackson was really excited! He's the cutest scientist I've ever seen!

Before and After
In the Spring, we had a terrible storm that caused a ton of hail damage to our house--mainly our roof, gutters, and a sun roof in our master bathroom. Last month, we finally had all of that repaired. While our contractor--and family friend--was repairing everything, he was going to clean some of our brick that had been really discolored from the sprinklers over the years. Well, that discoloration wouldn't come off, so he suggested painting the brick. I was immediately on board, but I knew we would have to convince Bryan. It actually didn't take that long to convince him at all!
We decided to paint the house a dark gray with white trim, add black cedar shutters, and make the roof shingles black. We love it!
After we finished, I contacted another company to put an overlay on our concrete porch to make it look like hardwood floors.
I love how the porch turned out!
The front door is my absolute favorite!
We've been wanting a new front door since we moved in--the one that was here was so plain and so damaged by the previous owner's dog's. This one is so beautiful!
While our friend was working on our house, he thankfully talked Bryan into tearing down the back pergola...something I had been trying to convince him to do for some time myself. It was old and rotting and needed to be removed.

Halloween Dinner
A couple of nights ago, we had our annual Halloween dinner!
Jackson came into the kitchen as I was finishing up, saw the desserts, then asked where the mummy hot dogs were. When I told him they were in the oven, he jumped up and down, told me I was "the best!" and gave me a huge hug!
J ate 3 of these!
For the mummy brownies, I topped my homemade brownies with melted white chocolate and eyes!
I loved how these rice krispy pumpkins turned out!

Homecoming
A couple of weeks ago, Sarah got asked to Homecoming by one of her best friends, and fellow trumpet players, Simeon.
On Wednesday afternoon, when she got to the band hall to get ready to march in the Homecoming Parade, this huge mum was waiting for her! She texted me a picture of it and asked if we could make Simeon a garter before the Homecoming Dance on Friday!
This is Sarah and Simeon--and the huge mum!--before the Homecoming Parade and Carnival! Aren't they the cutest?! I just want to pinch their cheeks! And I love Simeon's thumbs up!
The Homecoming Dance was immediately after the football game on Friday night, and it was informal, so Sarah and Simeon just changed into some casual clothes before the dance. After the dance, Simeon asked Sarah to be his girlfriend...and she said, "yes!" Cuties!

Pumpkin Patch
Yesterday after school, we went to the Pumpkin Patch! And Pumpkin Patch day is my favorite day!
I just love watching these two grow up!
He's my very favorite!
I wish she wasn't so stinkin' tall!
I'm so smitten with them!
I mean!
This was on the hay ride--Jackson's favorite.
Apple Dumplins
A couple of days ago, it finally felt like fall, so I thought it was the perfect time to make one of our favorite fall meals--chicken and dumplings. And I thought it was also the perfect time to make one of our favorite fall desserts to go with it--apple dumplins. And who better to help me make that dessert?
My littlest dumplin!
I just love being in the kitchen with him!
Oktoberfest
Last Friday, we went to Southlake's Oktoberfest and had a great time!
After eating far too much food, we stopped in the petting zoo.
This was Jackson's favorite part!
They are the cutest!
So is he!

Friday Night Lights
We went to a high school football game Friday night! The last time Bryan and I went to a high school football game, he was my boyfriend, and we were in the band. On Friday, we took our son, to cheer for our daughter--who's in the band--and now, he's my forever boyfriend.
We met my Dad there, and he let Jackson borrow his binoculars!
Jackson loved using them!
Watching our Sarah Bear march in!
The boys were too cute cheering for Argyle together! Bryan said Jackson even sang the National Anthem! I can't even!
We loved watching Sarah and the rest of the band!
They were great!
She's right above the arrow.
